2059 .400 Watch

We're over a month into the season and three players are batting over .400. Unem Polid is currently batting .472! Ollie Long is at .415 and Yuu Suzuki is at .409. Brent Gilbert (who?) is almost there at .398.


Will any of them top .400 at season's end?

I think Ploid has a good chance at .375+ but .400 is tough. I’m basically assuming his BABIP will drop from ~.462 to ~.375.

I think he’s got a good shot, though he has to face the #heartland now so his numbers will drop.

v25 seems to have inflated the batting averages early on. I am curious to see if there is a regression to the norm or if the new game has inflated these high contact guys. Gaajlimitz had a real cold sim this go around (3 for 20 stretch) that dropped his average below .340. So I'd expect something similar out of the guys hitting over .400 at some point that drops them back down.

League BA in 2058 was .260 and its up to .263 this season. So it increased but I'm not confident enough that a .003 difference was caused by the new game. Season is still early.

Batting average is up a touch across the league, but BABIP is the same. The delta is that the K-rate is down, so we're getting a few more balls in play across the league...hence a few more hits.

Ploid still batting .453 through 2.5 months. I like his chances if he stays healthy.
