His father was a soul singer on the club circuit his mother Mary a backing singer for Pink and his grandmother Mary (family name) was a backing singer for Tina Turner before she retired his grandfather worked with some of the best in the business like Tracy Chapman as a session guitarist, his best friend who he grew up with Latrell Tompkins All Pro receiver of the San Diego Raiders from the NFL loves old school hip hop.
I was hitching a ride with an older cousin she was from Berkeley visiting us on holiday, we were listening to the radio and having a blast. Then this song came on American Idiot, I liked music with my family in the music business but this was what I'd been waiting for, I had to check if I was still breathing, it was like welcome to paradise for my eardrums. I thought oh yeah this is what I'd been waiting for, in the end I'm a bit all by myself though like a minority if you would nobody I know likes this kind of music.
"When I come around his place, it's like bang bang in my ear drums, he's a basket case when it comes to musical tastes, a real chump. I love the guy he's my best friend but I'm like good riddance when we go our separate ways, specially if he's been playing Green Day, because man listening that music is like pulling teeth". With a wry smile that's what Latrell Tompkins had to say in an interview about his best friend when he made his debut for Athens in the UMEBA.
When he made his debut against Bucharest he was given the honour of picking the clubhouse music, it didn't actually go down well with Chip Saunders as Chris Carter stated. "We all take our turns for the clubhouse music, we all have different tastes. So when Dan puts his Green Day on most of the guys aren't bothered, not the worst we've heard Gonzo and his techno Latino springs to mind. Anyway I'm sat opposite Sarge, now Sarge loves country and nothing else. Now I'm looking at him and thinking it's going to be brain stew between his ears, or he'll be bouncing off the wall. It was kind of when people lose it and start flicking their lips going do da da, it was total misery for Sarge. Kind of like give me novacaine, all the time I'm sure he was thinking kill the DJ, man it was funny".
Dan MacDonald's musical tastes may not fit in with some but as long as he keeps hitting like he is he'll fit right in.

I like it! That was a lot of Green Day all over the place, but there haven't been many player spotlights!

I like the player spotlights, I think there's far to few of them. There not tough but it's tricky specially if you do a few not to repeat yourself, anyway I've always wanted to do an article even before the Brewster that focused on one subject. I was listening to Green Day (fav band) and thought why not a player spotlight, so wrote a load of song titles down and fitted them into this.

Totally agreed on there not being enough player spotlights. To me, it can be kind of an extension of team news. Not about talking about your own team, but having some kind of fictional back story about...ahem...a specific fictional player on his fictional team!

I can write previews on teams, we all have our views. I just feel a bit uneasy writing stories on other teams and players, think I've only done one that was Tahir, however he's a player who'll not get anywhere near the majors plus I did ask permission. Just feel like I'm stepping on people's toes, maybe they picture what a players like I know I do.

Oh, I can see that. I guess I feel that if it is complimentary and attempting to be humorous and not taking jabs at the player, then what could the person have a problem with? That said, making assumptions is no good, so fair point.Clayman wrote: ↑Thu Apr 23, 2020 12:33 pmjohnd2442 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 23, 2020 11:21 amTotally agreed on there not being enough player spotlights.
