Flores Signs Massive Contract With Brooklyn
This offseason, the standout hitting catcher Francisco Flores signed a lucrative deal with the Brooklyn Robins and leave the Rockville Pikemen franchise. Flores had been with Rockville since the beginning of his career in 2033 as an 18 year old and immediately showed that he was a star, hitting .325 as a rookie. Not much changed in his nine year Rockville tenure as he had a .326 average for the franchise. Flores goes east to Brooklyn as a 27 year old in his prime and for big bucks.
Brooklyn wooed Flores with a six year contract worth $94.5 million. It will pay him a massive $26 and a half million in the first year of the deal and then go down to $13 million for the 2043 and 2044 seasons. There’s a player option in the sixth and last season of the deal in 2047 for $19 million when he is 32 years old.
New Brooklyn Robins catcher, Francisco Flores
Not only can Flores swing the bat, but he’s also a terrific fielding catcher which only enhances his value. He won a Gold Glove in the 2039 season with Rockville and was a member of two BBA back-to-back championship teams in 2036 and 2037. The 2038 Most Valuable Player always had sights on a big east coast market however.
That 2038 season was a magical one for Flores as BBA fans nationwide finally realized what a star he was. He hit .342 with 21 homers and a .376 on base percentage. That year, his seventh as a big leaguer, endorsement deals finally came in steadily for the first time in his career and he got a taste of star treatment. Flores, who declined comment for this story from the fledgling and unestablished unnamed newspaper as of yet, wanted more of it according to former Rockville teammates. While it didn’t make him any less likable in the clubhouse, the media hordes before and after games got much thicker which Flores welcomed, but maybe not the rest of the Rockville clubhouse. When this impacted the chemistry of the terrific team Rockville had, the front office became concerned. This created friction between Flores and the franchise which was never fully repaired.
A fresh start looks like it was welcomed for Flores and Brooklyn has been the beneficiary of it. Flores has started off the young 2042 season right where he’s been his entire career, smacking the ball to all fields and a .337 average and getting on base at a torrid .387 clip. If he can do this for several more years, the Robins franchise and their fans will be ecstatic.
