Talons SP Bob Corrigan Ready for Next Level

We took the opportunity to catch up with 20 year old Phoenix Talons SP Bob "Mixtape" Corrigan and discuss his thoughts on the Talons, his future, and his place in the world as the adoptive son of a same sex couple.
Let's start with an easy one... Tell us about that amazing final game this past season.
BC: Oh wow, that had to be the game of my life. It had been a long season for the fans, and to just go out there and give them something to take home with them was a privilege. It just seemed like it was all there for me that day... I guess they used to call it being in the zone. Someone texted me later and told me that it was one of the top 10 starts in the league all season. And to see Kirsh win it in the bottom of the 10th... just chills. It kind of made everything perfect just then. The slog of a long season, the dissapointment of a 5th place finish... all vanished with that swing. I can't wait to take that feeling forward into next season.
So what can Talons fans look forward to next year?
BC: I think you'll see a lot of the guys improving. I mean, virtually everyone on the squad has a good chance of being a lot better in 2034. We could feel it in September. I mean, clearly we weren't quite there yet, but I think the guys know that next season we'll be that much closer to the top of the mountain. First of all, Iggy will be back. Losing him for the season really deflated a lot of guys. But you have to compete with the team you have. In any case, he'll be back and be the ace again. Then you have Tim-ski, probably one of the best closers in the game. And look at all these power hitters with room to grow... Deortez, Bartolo Ortiz, Dre Martinez, Flash Gordon. Thats like 120 dingers right there, you know? And Tu-fu Yong is just the best. Like our Derek Jeter, heh. He's the leader of this team, thats for sure. I know the fans will be thrilled to see everyone get better and improve next year. We want that September feeling we had in the clubhouse to spread through the whole city.
Why do the guys call you "Mixtape"?
BC: [laughs] I think everyone has a nickname in the clubhouse, you know? Probably because of my birth parents. I know mixed race couples aren't really that big of a deal now, but the guys play around a bit.
But thats not the only reason, right?
BC: Well, yeah, I've been known to do some music production in my spare time. Vancouver really does have a great hip hop scene. I've put together a few beats for some local guys. I think Deortez actually used one of my tracks as walkup music for a few weeks last year, and I got a lot of interest from the Phoenix area for my production. Might be a good career once the arm falls off, right? [laughs] It's great to take a mental break and just go to the studio now and then.
Do you have contact with your birth parents?
BC: Not since I was in middle school.
Tell us about your adoptive family.
BC: Oh, you mean 'my two moms'? Best parents a kid could ask for. Growing up in Canada, it just wasn't that out-of-the-ordinary. I think it's been legal in British Columbia for same sex couples to adopt since the 1990s. When I was a kid, of course there were those in elementary school that would give you a hard time. I mean, a mixed kid with two white moms? Heh. But I knew nothing but love at home. By the time I was 10 years old, I really didn't notice any opposition from my friends or their Normie parents. Whenever I'd pitch in little league or high school, I'd look for my moms in the stands. Couldn't imagine growing up in a better family.
So whats next for the offseason?
BC: Well, obviously I'm back in the Van, taking a few weeks off. Just trying to reconnect with friends and family after a long season, you know? I'm not the most social guy in the world, so 'Blandcouver' is good for me. They really don't bother you much out here if you're an athlete. But there is a place where I do my offseason workouts, and I plan on hitting it hard come December. Getting ready for a big year in 2034, as I told you before. I'm ready to hit that next level. I really do think you'll see a different team in Phoenix next year, even though its the same guys. We're ready. I'm ready.
