Long Beach received:
OF Santiago Sanchez
Brooklyn received:
OF Felipe Vega
Here is the only stat you need to know about this trade: In 709 career games Sanchez posted a total WAR of 6.9, in 159 games in 2046 Vega posted a WAR of 7.7! Sanchez was acquired at the 2038 deadline in this rare one for one but he only appeared in five games for the Surfers that year down the stretch. He did finish his career in Long Beach but only because no team would sign him when he became a free agent following the 2041 season. Think about that, not even a sniff from a UMEBA team to extend his career.
Where to start with Vega? At 27 years old he is rated the fourteenth best position player in the BBA. At $28.36 million per season he is the third highest paid player in the entire BBA. He's a four time All-Star and four time Puckett winner. He is on a streak of six consecutive 40 homer seasons and 115+ RBI seasons. He has slashed .349/.447/.663 in 24 career post season games.
WINNER:
Did I mention that Vega is just 27 years old and Sanchez is already out of baseball? This will end up as one of the worst trades in the history of the BBA. Vega could end up as a Hall of Famer while Sanchez will only be remembered for being traded for him.
