Re: 2039 Trade Deadline Winners & Losers
Madison was a loser. More specially Will as I was unable to do anything to change the roster for him next season.
Fingers crossed for his sake Mick opts out of his contract and Dempsey declines the player option.

Re: 2039 Trade Deadline Winners & Losers
I’m afraid I’m never keen on situations where a departing GM can still makes trades even after the departure is known. The incoming GM can take years to deal with the consequences of emptying the farm or the major league team. GM’s should leave straight away but things are what they are.
I’ve been through a few expansion drafts recently and it’s always hard to know what to do at the deadline, to stick or twist? Usually my teams, though lol, hardly have enough worth filling the retaining list

Re: 2039 Trade Deadline Winners & Losers
For what its worth, I did talk some with Will on any moves or potential moves. I talked with Ron and Recte early in the season on when the announcement would be made so that I wouldn't do anything to mess up the future of Madison's plans for the next GM. Will was all in favor of me trying to trade Mick and Dempsey but there were no suitors. After it was announced Will was fine with me going for it if we stayed in the post-season hunt. I didn't do anything big and we floundered as the season went on so I just stood pat, only trying to move guys that would put will in a better spot.Fat Nige wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2019 6:04 amI’m afraid I’m never keen on situations where a departing GM can still makes trades even after the departure is known. Long story short, I think I handled the transition as best as could. I've even told Will I hope Mick and Dempsey opt out of their deals after this season so that he'll have a ton of salary cap space going into his first year.

From what I observed both brett and chris handled the outgoing transition nicely.

One of the great advantages of having the expansion GMs already in hand is that they were available for consultation.

Re: 2039 Trade Deadline Winners & Losers
I ran everything through Recte, except the Newhouse/Medici deal. He said after-the-fact that he really liked Newhouse and I dont feel like I gave up too much in that deal so it works out. Recte even asked me to try and do a couple of moves - some worked out, some didnt.

I was fully on board with recte going all out trying for one last title. I think all the outgoing guys did phenomenal jobs keeping the incoming guys in the loop.
