2062 - Brewster HOld'Em (Part 5): Adds and Drops

By a vote of 8 to 4, this rule has been passed and will take effect immediately:

The team that is last in the Hitting categories, the team that is last in the Pitching categories, and the team that is last Overall shall have the option to drop a player and add a new player.

The team last in Hitting must add a hitter. All defensive positions must still be filled so that, for instance, you cannot drop a Catcher for an Outfielder. The team last in Pitching must add a pitcher. The team last Overall can add any player.

If the team last Overall is also one of the teams last in Hitting or Pitching, that team is limited to adding just one player but can choose either a hitter or a pitcher.

If the team last overall matches the pick from either the last place Hitting or last place Pitching, then the team last Overall gets preference. To provide for this contingency, the last place Hitting and the last place Pitching team must submit two picks in order of preference.

Stats accumulated by the dropped player remain on the team's ledger. The stats that a picked up player has already accumulated do not transfer to the new team. Only new stats that the picked up player has accumulated get added to the new team.

Adds and drops must be made before the next Sim.

The Grand Slamwiches, whose story began in the 2062 Media Guide, are last Overall and are just horrible. Their manager, Djeidi G, basically attests to that in this year's Media Guide, writing something about it being a "terrible team but best night of drafting in years." Even the #1 overall pick, Dave Ackerman, hasn't been doing well. HIS 13 HR are great, so are his 14 for 15 SB, but his .182 AVG and .246 OBP are a real drag.

Djeidi decided to pick up a batter: rookie OF Justin Weatherford, with his 14 home runs, 29 runs, 29 RBI, .335 AVG, and .404 OBP. Surely this guy must be on the shortlist for ROY.

We actually don't know who manages Pitching a Tent, who is last in the batting categories. Notably, Pitching a Tent is 2nd to last in HR and RBI, and dead last in AVG and OBP. Here are his bats:

Pepe Aragon (JAX)
Greg Squires (POR)
Steveland Morris (LBC, 19 for 19 in SB)
Bulent Kazaz (rookie, CLG, 10 for 10 in SB)
Shoin Yoshida (SA)
Lucio Guevara (RMO)
Jose Montoya (BOI)
Dallas Sly (CCJ)
Bradford McBearett (SA)

Pitching a Tent decides to add Gabriel Manuel, who is eligible everywhere except 3B and C. He has excellent potential but is considered fragile. He had two big injuries last year. But Manuel is slashing .252 / .359 / .580 with 14 HR. Guy has power for days.

Last place in Pitching is Knuckleheads Utd. We also do not know who is managing Knuckleheads Utd. They are 3rd to last in Wins with 17, but only 4 Wins away from the middle of the pack. It would've made sense to pick up Vassilis Zorba, who was leading the league in wins with 7 while also sporting a sub 3 ERA. But alas, a torn rotator cuff ended Zorba's season. So, Ielemia Faletose (SFB) it is. Faletose comes with a 6-0 record over 8 starts and a 3.05 ERA to boot. His strikeout to walk ratio is bad (33 to 23) but his 1.29 WHIP is better than the Knuckleheads Utd.'s 1.41.
