It’s baseball season again! We get to taste the salty tears of Goats everywhere. And we like the Atlases (but the tears are soooo salty). Got a fair number of walkoffs in the first 2 Sims of the season including our first derpoff and it was the first walkoff loss of the year! Congrats, Aztecs! The 5th and 7th were bananas…b-a-n-a-n-a-s (you know I was going there)

The Walkoff Watch Terminology

balkoff When a pitcher balks in the winning run.
derpoff When a pitcher walks in the winning run, hits a batter with the bases full, or the winning run scores due to a wild pitch or error.
200-proof walkoff When the home team scores in the bottom of a previous inning to extend the game and then scores with a walkoff in a subsequent inning.
pimpoff When the home team scores a walkoff following the visiting team tying the game to cause extra innings (or more extra innings) or scoring what would have been the winning run if the home team hadn’t responded.

Sim #2 Team and Player Highlights
- It’s early days but there are some teams making hay in 1-run games. Madison is 4-0, while New Orleans, Valencia, and Boise are 3-0. Charlotte has been in a whopping 6 1-run affairs going 5-1.
- Chicago has seen 6 as well…they are 0-6. Vancouver, Rocky Mountain, and San Fernando are each 0-4.
- Valencia started the season 2-0 in walkoffs as did Las Vegas and Nashville.
- Mexico City, oof… Not only giving up a wild pitch walkoff on opening day but sitting at 0-3 overall.
- Day 1: A walkoff. Wait, no. Day 1: A derpoff! Have we picked on Mexico City too much? No. We don’t do too much of anything here at The Watch.
- As for player standings, every one that had one, had just one.
