Discussions of divisional strength/weakness has been a constant among the BBA community. Players, GMs, GB members, coaches, managers, and storylines come and go, but since the last realignment in 2040, the divisional structure has been constant. The Atlantic division has struggled to win BBA titles since we went to the current playoff and divisional structure. Going into 2058, the scorecard is as follows.
Frontier:9
Heartland:5
Atlantic:3
Pacific:1
For whatever reason, the Atlantic seems to be the forgotten division. It isn't like there haven't been interesting teams, as Charm City is going for their third title since 2054, Atlantic City had a nice run to the JL title in 2050, Montreal and Charm City both winning 100 games last year, and New Orleans ending their wait for a title in 2051. But when folks have talked about divisions, the Atlantic almost seems forgotten.
But in this year's playoffs, the Atlantic has been doing a great job. Of the playoff teams this year, the Atlantic had every single one of their playoff teams besides Charlotte win a playoff series, and Charlotte lost to Montreal. Charm City is trying to go undefeated on the road in the playoffs, and New Orleans ended up sweeping Phoenix and won the first game of their series against Calgary.
If Charm City goes on to win the whole thing, it's time to start seriously looking at the Atlantic for what it became in 2058. A division that has multiple teams, made noise in the postseason, and has a Charm City team that will go down in history as a team that you cannot call a fluke or a flash in the pan. Put some respect on the Atlantic's name.

Look at the expanded standings. The Atlantic was the only division with four teams with 90+ wins. The Atlantic was the only division with four teams with +100 run differential. Any of the four teams could've finished as the division winner, no disrespect to Charm City. We (the Atlantic) aren't going away.lordtoffee wrote: ↑Thu Apr 11, 2024 11:50 pmFor whatever reason, the Atlantic seems to be the forgotten division. Part of the fun of having four division with eight teams each is that you get to see the planetary gravity of how wins gather together...and then get to debate what that means.
