Of course, now that I've called it final, I'm sure someone will spend more. Because that's how this league rolls, am I right? Don't tell me when I'm done! I'll tell you when I'm done, thank you very much.
Regardless, here are some final numbers. Which I think are interesting.
Number 1: 86.7%
That’s what you get when you take the 113 players who were signed in IFA and divide it by the total pool of 129 players. 86.7%. I think that’s an interesting number.
Number 2: 102
That’s the number of players who were signed for $3.3M or less.
Of course, everyone knows about Klau Renders and his $40M price tag. But how many of us think about the 102 players who were signed to considerably more meager deals? Want another number? How about ninety? That’s the number of guys who were signed for $1M or less. So, no, the IFA process is not simply the rich getting richer.
Number 3: 138,836,820
That’s the number of dollars spent across the league on those 113 players.
Number 4: 26
That’s the number of BBA teams who acquired players in the IFA process.
Number 5: 22
That’s the number of players the Rocky Mountain signed. Almost a whole team, right?
Number 6: 7
That’s the number of teams who spent more than the $4.75M required to refrain from paying IFA tax. Of these, only four spent $8M or more.
So, yeah. That’s kinda fun to look at. Let me finish this little bit by posting the full listing of players signed and money spent by each team. Because, why not, right?
