The Walkoff Watch 2058: Sims 10 & 11

Post by cheekimonk » Mon Mar 04, 2024 2:15 pm

Image Well, everyone seems to have gotten over their case of the derps. But there were some epic walkoff games over these Sims including a 1-0 decided in extras and a 19-inning marathon. One hero broke out of the peloton in the Atlas standings, while the chase to catch the top Goat is heating up!

The Walkoff Watch Terminology

balkoff When a pitcher balks in the winning run.
derpoff When a pitcher walks in the winning run, hits a batter with the bases full, or the winning run scores due to a wild pitch or error.
200-proof walkoff When the home team scores in the bottom of a previous inning to extend the game and then scores with a walkoff in a subsequent inning.
pimpoff When the home team scores a walkoff following the visiting team tying the game to cause extra innings (or more extra innings) or scoring what would have been the winning run if the home team hadn’t responded.

April Team and Player Highlights
- Somebody break up the Mopes! 15-5 in 1-run games in the middle of June is crazy. Crazy enough that Nashville’s giving them a run at 17-7. Send some of that mojo to Bikini (6-16) and Brooklyn (4-12). Chicago has seen 28 1-run affairs going an even 14-14 while Des Moines has been a part of 27 tight ones going 12-15.
- Another Watch with teams seeing 4 walkoffs. That’s what we’re talkin’ about! Charlotte (5-5) went 3-1 in their four, while Phoenix (1-6) stayed on the skids dropping 3 of 4.
- Did I say Phoenix went 1-3 in their four walkoffs? Well that included their first victory of the season so…yay! Portland snagged not just their first but their 2nd while they were at it. The fireworks are starting to get soggy at Madison as they are still 0-fer.
- Brooklyn (1-5) settled for 3…and lost all of them. Las Vegas (5-3) and New Orleans (5-3) took 2 of their triplets, while Boise (5-8) and San Antonio (2-5) each went 1-2.
- Edmonton (4-3) and Portland (2-8) went 2-0 in this edition of the Watch, while Charm City (2-1) didn’t just settle for their first walkoff win but took both of a pair. Long Beach (1-1), Bikini (1-2) each split two walkoff decisions, and Yellow Springs (1-6) dropped two.
- The teams still yet to taste defeat in dramatic fashion? Chicago (5-0), Omaha (3-0), Sacramento (3-0), and Vancouver (3-0).
- Long Beach’s Fernando Castillo broke away from the large bunch at the top of the Atlas standings by registering his 3rd of the year.
- San Antonio’s Azhar Abu al Khayr gave up 2 walkoffs in this stretch to join a growing bunch sitting at 3 and trailing our still woeful Wesley Turner of Madison.

These are great, Ben. It's a fun way to learn about the league.

Note: Luis Equivel pitches for Portland but is listed with SFB.

Thanks! I need these kind of updates, too...especially as we get into trade season.
