Random Observations from the Commish: JL Atlantic Division, 6/3/2057
John Rasmussen III was dumped by the Hustlers to Edmonton last year, then in free agency Charlotte took a "flyer" (see what I did there) on him. So of course, he's 7-1 with a 1.92 ERA. You know, because baseball makes sense.
Charm City's Jules Le Gal is having a huge breakout season, .339/.441/.630/1.071 with 16 HR and 47 RBI.
The no-hitter by Montreal's Kinzu Iwamoto was surprising, but his whole season has been particularly interesting for a lot of reasons. He was never a full-time starting pitcher until last year with Brooklyn, where he was pretty bad, but still managed a career best 1.5 WAR. This guy had been a primary closer for several seasons before. Why is he suddenly better? Career BABIP= .311, 2057 BABIP= .250
Contrary to Iwamoto is Jacksonville's venerable starting pitcher Bernie Stuart. Why is he "struggling"? Career BABIP= .282, 2057 BABIP= .365
The New Orleans Crawdads starting middle infield of Esteban Flores (2B) and Carlos Correa (SS; no, not THAT Carlos Correa) are on a record pace, and not in a good way. Flores has a slash line of .200/.223/.232 and a -1.1 WAR. Correa has a slash line of .212/.249/.287 and a -1.0 WAR. Yuck.
Brooklyn is getting better, everyone. They had their first +.500 month in a long time last month. How are the "kids" doing? Clulow, Jr. has been awful, but Emilior Morales, Jr. is now fully blossoming in his fifth season (already???) and he's just 23 years old.
Hard to find too many positives in Atlantic City's starting rotation these days, but Antonio Santiago is having a solid sophomore season. That's all I have to say about that.
Rockville is having a heck of a time competing these days. Rather than go on and on about it, I'll use the "a picture is worth a thousand words" approach and just leave this here:

Love to see your observations on what has been a very interesting division this year.
I'm very happy with how the Robins have looked so far, but making the playoffs this year was always going to be a bridge too far given that this team still has flaws.

Good luck with the Russian. I like Ginevglekov, but he struggled to stay healthy for us.JimBob2232 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 7:41 am(Related - Flores is on waivers now....) - replaced with Ginevglekov (also not a great bat...)
