2057 - Calgary's Wild Offseason And It's Impacts
The Pioneers entered the 2057 offseason as a team that had just missed getting into the playoffs, and most observers thought that they would make some moves to get closer to the playoffs. But what wasn't expected was that Calgary ended up announcing in no uncertain times that this was the year that they were going to make some noise, and they ended up doing just that.
The Rocky Mountain/ Calgary trade is going to be thought about for years, and I like the boldness on both sides. Brett had gotten his title with Rocky Mountain, and making this trade signals that he thought it was time for a refresh, or he thought that his window wasn't as long as others thought. Rocky Mountain is still going to be solid, and they have some room to work with with the cap for Brett to get some guys in that he wants. Don't expect Rocky Mountain to be too bad, and they will get back to the top of the Frontier down the line.
But what made the trade really surprising for me is that Kevin ended up making a bold all-in move. Kevin has always fielded a good team, and he hasn't made a ton of big splashes. But I love the move for Kevin. He gets some very good players right now, and still has a top 10 farm system to work with. The Frontier has become such a tough division in recent years that in order to make up some ground, moves like this are going to be needed, and the cost isn't too high as it could have been. Needless to say, Calgary is going to be a heavy favorite to at least get home field in the first round of the BBA playoffs, and could even challenge for the Frontier title. We also haven't gotten into Kevin grabbing some quality arms to replace some of the pitching that he had to give up to get the Rocky Mountain stars.
But the biggest beneficiary of Calgary's wheeling and dealing are going to be the Atlantic. With the Atlantic wild card race going to be tight from 2nd to 4th, that means that some of the Frontier teams are going to be looking over their shoulder in the standings.

I still can't believe Santos was traded. Malik bin Mazin is one thing, but that strong of a defender in center field is about to become an even more rare commodity.
No doubt Rocky Mountain got a haul in return.

I'm sure both Brett and Kevin have their reasons. That trade is going to be one of the most scrutinized trades I have ever seen in OOTP.BaseClogger wrote: ↑Wed Nov 15, 2023 4:14 pmI still can't believe Santos was traded. Its a win/win in my book. Rocky Mountain clears off 9 mil or so from their books and gives @GoldenOne an easier path in trading, Which he will without a doubt. Calgary gets better instantly but nothing is guaranteed.

Interesting. I didn’t pay too much attention to the financials involved.

Re: Calgary's Wild Offseason And It's Impacts
Appreciate the write up. I could afford to give up the OF prospects as I have a young OF. Also I still have some good pitching prospects left. Brett approached me with the talk of a deal and we put it together pretty quick. Most fun I have had in awhile. Now if I could only get a 2B to sign with my club.

No problem, happy to do it. The Frontier race and the JL wild card race this year are going to be very interesting.indiansfan wrote: ↑Wed Nov 15, 2023 7:31 pmAppreciate the write up.
