Congrats to Felix Roman.
The day that Omaha Cyclones fans had long hoped would never come, finally arrived this season.
Mexico City’s Felix Roman belted home run number 739, effectively becoming the Home Run King, just 8 years after Emilio Morales hit number 721 in 2048 to become the all-time home run leader in league history.
Roman accomplishes his at age 36, yet still accomplishes it in about the same number of at bats as Morales did. The big difference? Roman at age 36 and sitting at 764 currently, doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. He currently needs 236 to eclipse 1,000 which would be a record that would be absolutely nearly unbreakable. While it’s unlikely he gets there, 900 seems within realm based on his current production and lack of a slowdown.
Roman might arguably be the best player to ever lace is up when he decides to hang it up. A center field with an amazing glove(Over 100 career ZR at CF), and an incredible danger at the plate for the opposing team.
We, of the former Omaha Cyclone front office, salute Felix Roman and the Mexico City Aztecs on a wonderful organizational accomplishment.

He certainly isn't slowing down, but don't think 1000 is obtainable. He's gotta come down soon especially with injuries tuned up.

Yeah, I wouldn't expect he'll get to 1000. It'll be fun to see how high he pushes the number though.

It’s crazy to think 900 actually is obtainable though. Will be fun to watch.

Did we actually turn up injuries? It seems every season there is 1-2 teams that get hit hard and there is always some discussion on the topic but in the end, we are still at the average that we usually have (give or take some). I dont believe Matt has turned up the injuries from being set at low for a long time.

Matt stated on Discord a few weeks ago that he did, in fact, increase injuries.GoldenOne wrote: ↑Mon Oct 09, 2023 6:47 pmDid we actually turn up injuries? I just went through all of Matt's posts on Discord back to a game date of January and didnt see any mention of increasing injuries. Maybe I missed it.

I think I found it. It was back in mid-Aug. He said it was changed from low to normal - a few seasons ago!GoldenOne wrote: ↑Tue Oct 10, 2023 7:12 amDington wrote: ↑Mon Oct 09, 2023 7:53 pmMatt stated on Discord a few weeks ago that he did, in fact, increase injuries.GoldenOne wrote: ↑Mon Oct 09, 2023 6:47 pm

This version of Ootp doesnt nhave guys age gracefully... they fall off a cliff dramatically, like in a month or two they age into nothingness. Happened to me with Ichizo Sugiyama. Hope Roman aviods this fate.

OOTP has always tended towards giving players Steve Blass disease IMO. I am sure there's no easy way to do it and of course everyone would be unhappy no matter how and when the cookie crumbled as it were but it does seem to be a rather jarring change sometimes.jiminyhopkins wrote: ↑Tue Oct 10, 2023 10:52 amThis version of Ootp doesnt nhave guys age gracefully... they fall off a cliff dramatically, like in a month or two they age into nothingness. Re: Congrats to Felix Roman.
That happens in baseball though. Take a look at Miguel Cabrera. He went from a 155 OPS+ in 2016 to posting an OPS+ over 100 in a full season once (104 in 2020). After that he ranged from 80-97 as a DH that’s not good. Another impressive thing to me is he’s still been able to provide a serviceable glove in CF. I thought that would take a hit as he’s gotten older.Trebro wrote: ↑Tue Oct 10, 2023 7:29 pmOOTP has always tended towards giving players Steve Blass disease IMO.
