Tells You He's Doing More

12/16/2055

We kick off our journey through the prospect ranks with a trip to Music City. This time, we take a look at center field prospect Crissy Tingle. Born in Murray, Utah, Tingle is remarkably tall, 6' 7”, and thin, 200 lbs. He hits and throws left-handed. Nashville acquired Tingle with the 37th overall pick in the 2052 draft. Tingle was just sixteen at the time, and had a future value of 50, with potential ratings of 7/4/7 as a hitter. What impressed about Tingle was his advanced development as a fielder, with a 10 Outfield Range and 9 Center Field Ability in high school.

This is what his official scouting report has to say:
[Tingle] has all the tools to be a premium defensive center fielder. He understands the strike zone and should use that to his advantage. He projects to be able to consistently put the barrel of the bat on the ball. Tingle can be a second division starter at center fielder.
It looks like OSA is selling Tingle a littler short here. Going into his age 20 season he has elite defensive ratings right now and is pretty close to a fully developed hitter. How he comes by that world class outfield range is a bit of a puzzle, though, given that 3 Speed.

What gives one pause with Tingle is the recent injury history; a torn labrum suffered in June of 2054 that kept him out of the entirety of the 2055 season. The injury itself seems to have hurt him a little bit with respect to his outfield arm rating, which dropped from 7 to 6. Not ideal, and further slippage here might see Tingle migrating to left field, where you look at those batting ratings, particularly the slightly below average power, in a less sympathetic light. The fact that it took a full seventeen months for Tingle to fully rehab that shoulder is a bummer, but he's not a pitcher. The strain put on that arm consequently won't be comparable to a pitcher's going forward, so you don't worry about reinjury too much.

If Ragheb Burhan continues to play his way out of the Bluebirds lineup, we may see Tingle ranging around Les Paul Field sooner rather than later. Performance this season early in AAA should tell us where he is headed.

The most recent scout evaluation has Tingle's future value set at 60 with potential ratings of 7/4/8. He should get on base often enough, though he'll be a station to station runner when he gets there. Tingle is currently not in the top 100 prospects list, and is the #8 overall (and #5 position player prospect) in the Bluebirds organization.

Tingle puts in the work, with green Work Ethic.

Very excited about Tingle and he’ll be called up after he gets some warm up swings in minors. He will be more valuable the 80+ of the prospects on this list.

I would be too, the range is excellent and the bat isn't bad at all for such a premium defensive position. Seems like a safe bet to stay on BBA rosters for a long time as a starting CF or 5th outfielder.

If he had been hitting well in AAA at the time he went down, I'd be more bullish on him.

Meh. He was 18 and still had OPS of .676. I'm fine if that's his ceiling in BBA since his glove will still make him a 2.5-3 WAR player IMO.

The question for him is hi sinjury history. Even beyond his big shoulder problem, he's been dealing with a string of problems. At age 20, that's a little worrisome. If he fades to fragile soonish, that'll be a sad story.

Morris is he your 100th rated prospect? Or is this prospect pipeline? Noticed you said he’s not in the OSA top 100.

I'm not ranking the prospects myself, but using the 12/01/55 Top 100 to determine order, which means the prospects can move around by the time of writing, which I'll note. Currently, Tingle is now sitting at 98, which still seems low.

That strong ZR in CF will get him a career in the BBA but I do wonder if he can hit . 200 or not. That seems to be a theme among the prospects of late.

Unless I’m missing something, dude’s got 7 POT contact (fully developed) and 8 POT AVK (almost fully developed). Add in 8 eye and he should be a .340 OBP guy with elite defense.

Ratings are good but I'm looking at his . 250ish AAA batting average and projecting down. I have very little faith in ratings vs stats in this league.

Not worried about that at all. Like I mentioned earlier he was 18 and small sample size.

For those concerned about his AAA stats when he was 18 years old, he's now back healthy and playing at age 20. So far this season:

.447/.506/.513 in 20 games.

Would like to see a little more power because he only has 5 XBH (all doubles), but he's proven enough.
