Regardless of if you consider yourself a Swiftie or a Ronatic (I’m firmly entrenched in the latter), most everyone can agree both have a way with words. So, let’s play a game, shall we? Read along and see if you can determine whether it’s a Taylor Swift lyric or a quote from our very own Ron Collins.

Answer: Yeah, easy one to start. That’s a Ron quote in a 2042 forum post in which he was highlighting his deep Yellow Springs minor league system. Okay, just a warning: these will get harder from here.
- Ooh / I guess I’ll never know / Ooh+
Answer: That’s the pre-chorus from “dorothea,” the eighth song on Taylor Swift’s evermore album. Swift once referred to the titular character as a “girl who left her small town to chase down Hollywood dream,” much like Carlos Valle’s career arc. I could see how you possibly got this one wrong.

Answer: This poignant line came up in the forums on a thread when a few BBA GMs were complaining about the randomness of international scouting finds. See, I told you…Ron has a gift with words!
- The highlight of my day / I'm taking pitchers in my mind+
Answer: Another Ron quote, mentioned prior to the 2047 First Year Player Draft. It was chock-full of talented hitters but Mr. Collins clearly had his sights on a few sleeper arms later in the later rounds. Four questions in...how are you doing so far?
- As if you were a mythical thing / Like you were a trophy or a champion ring+
Answer: Ron blowing off steam after the 2045 Monty Finals when he lost the championship to Edmonton for the second time in five seasons? WRONG. This is for all the Swifties out there, who know these lines are from “willow,” the lead single off of evermore.
- But maybe this thing was a masterpiece 'til you tore it all up+
Answer: I can’t reveal my sources, but someone hacked the Discord and passed this onto me. This is from a DM from Ron to current Yellow Springs GM Rob McMonigal after Ron noticed the Nine were on pace to have their worst season since 2022. True story!
- Well, maybe we got lost in translation / Maybe I asked for too much+
Answer: Okay, this one is a trick question. There’s no way Taylor sang this, but Ron never uttered these as well. This is actually a response from reliever Ernie von Schledorn during contract extension talks late into the 2029 season. Ron stood his ground and eventually von Schledorn caved and re-upped with Yellow Springs during the off-season.

Answer: Just in case you’ve been struggling at this point, I figured I’d lob one over the plate for you. Obviously, this is a Ron Collins quote from the 2037 season when he missed the playoffs for the first time in nine seasons. Ron’s generally sensible and positive, but one could understand his disappointment and there’s no better way to re-focus when the off-season comes knocking early than with one’s pet.
