I had raised the question a while back, and no one knew the answer ... does earning All-Star selections help the Fan Interest level of the team? My suspicion was yes, but I felt untrue whether that was myth or reality. Thus I had to run the numbers to find the answer.
Below is a fairly simple spreadsheet showing the 2054 All-Star voting results per team and the fan interest level. Also included for reference is the recent W-L record post All-Star break in case that carries some influence you wish to consider:
Some observations:
- Interestingly enough, every BBA team had at least one player make a 2054 All-Star team. The highest number of players from a team that an earned an all-star selection was 4, shared by six different teams.
- Brooklyn suffered a huge fan interest drop of -6 during the All-Star week and following series, in which they went 0-3. In that case I did check the transaction log to see if any major changes were made to the roster, and found nothing. Maybe there was a shortage or prescription medication or alcohol in the greater New York area.
- Four BBA teams have 100 fan interest and remained there. Not much to be learned there, so I'm excluding them from further analysis.
In order to ascertain if there seemed to be any correlation between all-star count and fan interest, let's group the teams into their All-Star player count and review the net fan interest change. That produces the following:
4 All-Star selections (5 teams) - net -1 fan interest change.
3 All-Star selections (4 teams) - net +2 fan interest change.
2 All-Star selections (8 teams) - net -3 fan interest change.
1 All-Star selection (11 teams) - net -12 fan interest change.
Based on the above, I conclude that the myth of All-Star selections aiding fan interest is BUSTED. Any correlation here appears to be negligible, if not non-existent.

We have a “every team gets an all star” rule although I ended up with zero in 2052.
