Frick League RPI After Sim #5

Screen Shot 2023-03-08 at 2.57.12 PM.png

Twin Cities leads the Frick League by a large margin over Hawaii in the first RPI of the season. The River Monsters have played a more balanced schedule winning 10 home games and 11 road games. The Tropics have held serve at home with a 14-4 mark but are just a game over .500 on the road. Louisville is #3 followed by a resurgent Vancouver at 4 and Madison at 5. The Wolves have 11 road wins that vaulted them up the list.

The Sacramento Mad Popes have started slow but are beginning to rack up the wins. The Popes are a game below .500 on the road but don’t expect that to last long. Des Moines is 10-9 on the road to edge out Long Beach by .004 for the 7th spot. Omaha is scoring runs just not getting wins. This will change as the odds will work back to their favor. Nashville rounds out the Top 10 in the Frick as they have sputtered.

Yellow Springs is #11 with a 4-9 home record. The Nine play better on the road but will need to score more and win some home games. Portland is 12-10 at home while 4-6 on the road. The Lumberjacks could go either way up or down the rankings. Seattle, San Fernando, and Valencia all play better at home but in the small number of road games they have played they are all under .500. Chicago is still #16 as the rebuild continues going 4-8 at home and 5-15 on the road.

Johnson League RPI After Sim #5

Montreal sits atop the Johnson League by a slim margin over Las Vegas. Vegas has 14 home wins to the Blazers 10 but have 6 road wins to Montreal’s 9. The Hustlers barrow the gap in strength of schedule and Pythagorean Win %. Rocky Mountain rolls into the # 3 spot followed by Edmonton and Jacksonville.

Mexico City takes the 6th spot and tie Vegas with 14 home wins but have struggled on the road with a 5-8 record. New Orleans, Charm City, Charlotte, and Boise round out the Top 10.

Rockville is #11 and is 10-3 at home but is 5-14 on the road. Brooklyn is out of the cellar with a 7-6 record at home and 7-12 on the road. The Robins have having success this season as they are beginning to score runs. San Antonio and Phoenix fall into the category of teams that have records over .500 at home but have difficulty in road games. Calgary and Atlantic City take the final two spots in the Johnson.

It seems the schedules are getting lopsided early and then late.

Frick League RPI After Sim #12

Screen Shot 2023-03-24 at 3.44.40 PM.png

The Frick League has 10 teams that have a .500 or better record at home. There are 5 teams with a .500 or better record on the road. There are no Pacific Division teams with a .500 or better record on the road.

Is there parity in the Frick?

Omaha is the new #1 in the tightly contested Power Index. The Cyclones are good at home (25-15) and win on the road (19-16). They edge out #2 Louisville by two more home wins and one less road loss. Hawaii is close at #3 with a 27-10 home record but struggle on the road at 19-20. Sacramento and Twin Cities round out the top 5.

Des Moines is at #6 even though they have a losing record at home as they are 22-19 on the road and have a .505 SOS. Long Beach is tied with the Kernels followed by Portland, Nashville, and Vancouver to make up the top 10.

Yellow Springs sits at #11 ahead of the quickly improving Chicago Black Sox at #12. Seattle is 20-18 at home but is 9 games under .500 on the road and come in at #13. Madison has stopped scoring runs but is just 3 games under .500 at home. They are also 9 games under .500 on the road. Valencia is riding the roller coaster again. They are 21-22 at home but 12-22 on the road and come in at #15. San Fernando has the wildest swing of all the teams. The Bears are 22-17 at home but are 20 games below .500 on the road at 9-29 and come in at #16.

The Atlantic Division is having the same problems winning on the road as the Frick League Pacific. Division leader Montreal is 15-20 while 6th place New Orleans has the better record at 16-18. There are two teams in the Frontier with winning road records. Mexico City at 22-16 and Rocky Mountain at 20-14. Every Frontier team is over .500 at home ranging from 16 games over .500 by the Aztecs to low of 5 games over .500 by Boise.

Mexico has vaulted to the top spot in the Johnson League with their 26-10 record at home and a 22-16 road mark. Rocky Mountain is trailing by 0.057% points at #2. Edmonton, Montreal and Las Vegas round out the top 5. Calgary is #6 followed by the Jimmies, the Outlaws, and the Spuds. Charlotte finishes out the top 10.

Phoenix is #11 with a 22-16 home record but are 11 games under .500 on the road. New Orleans is tied with the Talons with a worse home record but have two more road wins. Rockville, Jacksonville, and Brooklyn are #12, #13 and #14. Atlantic City is showing some improvement but is still at the bottom of the Power Index.

I’d like to think my team is built for my home park but that’s gotta be some randomness more than anything.

Frick League RPI After Sim #18

Screen Shot 2023-04-08 at 4.29.33 PM.png

There is a new #1 in the Frick as the reigning champs take over the lead. The Mad Popes edge out the resurgent Hawaii Tropics by .003% points. The Popes have one more home win while Hawaii has two more road win points. Sacramento has the edge with a higher SOS and Pythagorean than the Trops. Louisville drops to #3 with Omaha right on their tail. The Cyclones lead the Frick with a 44-21 home record, but 24 road wins drag their points down. They will have a heavy road schedule coming in August as the play 17 road game with just 11 at home. If they play well on the road, they will take back their #1.

Twin Cities and Long Beach are in the next tier of teams with the River Monsters at #5 and the Surfers at #6. Long Beach is one of the better home teams but is under .500 on the road while Twin Cities sits at .500 on the road.

There is a tight race between four teams with Des Moines, Vancouver, Madison, and Nashville all vying for a wildcard berth. The edge should be with the Mounties as they have a home heavy schedule coming up.

The bottom tier us Portland, Valencia, Chicago, Seattle, Yellow Springs, and San Fernando. All these teams hold their own at home but struggle on the road.

The Mexico City Aztecs and the Rocky Mountain Oysters remain #1 and #2 but the Oysters adjust themselves and narrow the gap. The big mover in the RPI is the Charm City Jimmies. They claw their way into #3 after winning 16 in a row and 44 of their last 57. They excel at home with a 41-17 record and get the job done on the road at 30-23.

The next tier of teams are Calgary, Las Vegas, Montreal, Edmonton, and Phoenix as they remain within .20% from each other.

A quickly improving Brooklyn team sits at #9 followed by Boise, and New Orleans at #10 and #11. The Spuds play well at home but struggle on the road.

San Antonio, Charlotte, Jacksonville, and Rockville are the next group within .12% of each other. Each of these teams have winning records at home but are poor road teams. Atlantic City is the only team in the Association below .400 in the RPI. They have had a tough season and are now parting the team out.
