Most Fun Players in the Brewster

Just cause I had a minute...

I saw a blurb today that Tom Tango came up with a new junk stat to determine the players who were the most fun to watch play. To make a long story short, here are the magic elixirs:

Here’s the formula as Tom has it.
  • • Walks and hit-by pitches: 1 fun point*
    • Strikeouts: 3 fun points (we’ll talk about this in a minute)
    • Singles: 4 fun points
    • Stolen bases: 6 fun points
    • Caught stealing: 1 fun point
    • Doubles: 9 fun points
    • Triples: 12 fun points
    • Home runs: 14 fun points
Of course, my first thought was to wonder how Brewster players stacked up. So I did a quick spin through the history logs and grabbed all the stats. The only caveat is, since the HTML doesn’t include HBP, that bit of fun hit the cutting room floor. Mapping the scoring above, I came up with the full list.

Which was interesting enough as it was. But then I got to wondering about the splits over various eras. Who, for example, was the most fun player of the Brewster’s first 20 seasons? And the next twenty?

Triples should be more worth more than a HR - afterall, it is the most exciting play in baseball.
