The Walkoff Watch: Sim #5

Yes, it was all your fault...

A decent slate of salty tears in Sim #5 including another derpoff (YAY!!) and a complete collapse by one team’s pitching.

The Walkoff Watch Terminology

balkoff When a pitcher balks in the winning run.
derpoff When a pitcher walks in the winning run, hits a batter with the bases full, or the winning run scores due to a wild pitch or error.
200-proof walkoff When the home team scores in the bottom of a previous inning to extend the game and then scores with a walkoff in a subsequent inning.
pimpoff When the home team scores a walkoff following the visiting team tying the game to cause extra innings (or more extra innings) or scoring what would have been the winning run if the home team hadn’t responded.

Sim #5 Team and Player Highlights
- Calgary, 20-10 on the season, is 7-0 in 1-run games so huzzah!
- Another player added their name to the Silver Atlas leaderboard in Yellow Spring’s Tomás Borges
- On 4/30, Charm City was at Montreal and, in the bottom of the 8th inning they enjoyed an 8-2 lead. Jimmies pitcher Iván Molina surrendered a 2-run HR, but Charm City still had the Blazers in a 4-run hole going into the bottom of the 9th. The Jimmies allowed Molina to go back out to wrap up the 9th but he immediately gave up 2 singles. Just to be safe, Charm City’s manager put Lindsay Barber in what was still not a high-leverage situation. He proceeded to give up a single, a 2-run double, then a 3-run home run and just like that a 4-run lead led to the Jimmies shuffling off the field as Montreal celebrated the 9-8 walkoff
- Another derpoff this Sim as Montreal’s Carlton Casson walked Edmonton’s Jorge Rincón with the bases loaded in a 7-6 loss
- Charm City, Montreal, and Vancouver were all split a pair of walkoffs in Sim #5
