UMEBA - 10 Seasons and Counting
April 1st, 2046. With little to no fan-fare one of the leagues prize assets just celebrated its 10th season in existence. You may know it as the United Middle Eastern Baseball Association, or "UMEBA". I know its not 70 seasons like the Brewster, but 10 seasons is nothing to shake a stick at. As a previous UMEBA Champion <cough-cough> Jerusalem 2040, I'd like give a toast to all the UMEBA GMs past & present who helped it achieve its 10th season in existence.
When the Brewster turned "70" a few years back a we created a feature called "7 for 70" on the forums. Where, any owner who wanted to, could create their own "7 for 70" feature about the league. It was very entertaining as a lot of owners provided their own twist on it. Which got me to thinking.....Hmm why not a series for the UMEBA?
So I decided to start a feature series for the UMEBA's 10th season celebration. A "10-for-10" Series. The UMEBA still does not have its own HoF, nor are UMEBA players yet enshrined into the Brewster's. As I just completed updating the Brewster HoF Viz with Bill James HoF Standards, I felt I wanted to use that same formula on the UMEBA to see who actually is the "BEST" UMEBA player of all time based off this Bill James stat.
With that said, I have created a interactive Viz for you enjoyment that breaks down the overall Top 10 Batters, Top 10 players at each defensive position, and finally the Top 10 pitchers. It really gives you a gauge as to who has really had a productive career in the UMEBA.
Being a ex Jerusalem GM, I was honestly expecting David Hall to show up in the leagues overall Top 10. Sadly he did not, and he WAS only good enough for 7th place for his position (LF)! Surprisingly, my boy Youp Lenoir (now in the Montreal farm system) was ranked higher than Hall. So if you take a look here, you can see for yourself who is the BEST <wink-wink> player in the UMEBA based on Bill James HoF Standards formula.
There are sliders on the side that you can adjust for minimum requirements up for AB and IP. Minimum defaults are 1000AB and 500.0 IP. I felt that was a good barometer for a 10 season mark. But with 1000 & 500, you have 10 at every position.
I'm sure this will stir up some debate over players on/off the list, But hey, don't we all just love to debate the stats of fictional baseball players? If not we wouldn't be here.
Enjoy!
~Mike

Re: UMEBA - 10 Season and Counting
I think it is amusing that Best IS Best.
Cool to see so many Bucharest players on the list: Jay Gamble, Rakim Stevenson, Anastasio Diaz, Mateus Rabisca (past), William Parker (past) , Mitch Dalrymple, and Ricardo Esparza. Only disappointed that Owen Geddes is not yet on the list... but he will be... he will be.

Nice to see John Garcia on that list. He had 146 HR, 366 RBI and 12.6 WAR in three season with two United Cup title playing for Istanbul.

Thanks so much for doing this. Can we get it stickied to the top of the UMEBA league features subforum?
So glad I signed Best to an extension before his agent saw this
