BBA Sportsbook Making People Rich!

The inaugural debut of the BBA Sportsbook is reaching the end of year 1 with only the Landis Memorial Title still up for grabs. What this means for the betting public is it is time to either lick your wounds as a betting degenerate who lost all your money or celebrate your successes as you count your winnings. And as for 2045, more people are counting their winnings as the sportsbook licks it's wounds.

As of the end of the regular season, the BBA Sportsbook has paid out $1,378.87 to betting winners on the season while collecting only $549 in losing bets. That puts the Sportsbook at an $829.87 net loss thus far the 2045 year. That number will still go up or down following the Landis Series.

"As of now, the sportsbooks are pulling hard for Omaha, Long Beach, Montreal, Brooklyn, Calgary, Chicago, and Louisville" said betting export Kent Musburger "because no one bet on those teams to win the Landis. If one of those teams claims the title, then the sportsbook won't be in such bad shape as all Landis bets made will go to the house. But boy, if Rockville, Yellow Springs, or Edmonton win, look out. The sportsbook may have to close it's doors permanently."

As for plans to try and recoup some losses this season, Musburger added "the books are planning to release some post-season props and updated odds. Maybe even try to draw in some of the bettors who didn't play their money prior to the season. Perhaps expect some odds boosts over the next few hours as the Sportsbooks try and win back some of the losses and entice gamblers to bite."

As for how the Sportsbook did in it's initial "odds making", here is a breakdown:

Close Over Unders (Under 3)
TeamPredictionFinal Win Total
Atlantic City70.573
Boise87.590
Calgary93.594
Jacksonville74.573
Phoenix87.587
Rockville96.597
Seattle79.581
Yellow Springs109.5107
So the Sportsbook was within a 3 game margin on 8 of the 32 teams in the Brewster. The Book was close on 25% of the teams.

Not-So-Close Over Unders (Between 3-6 Games)
TeamPredictionFinal Win Total
Brooklyn8591
Charm City81.578
New Orleans8983
Des Moines65.562
Hawaii92.589
Long Beach9590
Louisville86.592
Nashville88.585
Twin Cities84.590
We predicted 9 teams within 3-6 games of their prediction. So not a bad total. Really, if you break the numbers down a little different these may not look so bad. Let's say I extended the first grouping to 3.5 wins/losses off. Then suddenly 4 more teams jump into the top chart for a total of 12 which means the book would have been close on over 35% of the teams predictions.

Nowhere near close Over Unders (Between 6.5-10 Games)
TeamPredictionFinal Win Total
Charlotte80.574
El Paso6454
Mexico City7063
Montreal8191
Madison7178
Sacramento83.577
You do this for a living Over Unders? (Over 10 Games Off)
TeamPredictionFinal Win Total
Edmonton87.5101
Las Vegas64.575
San Antonio90.572
Chicago8395
Omaha85.598
Portland6348
San Fernando89.577
Valencia6553
Vancouver61.574
Just like with the close predictions, the sports book was WAY OFF on 25% of is predictions as well. Clearly, the sportsbook had no clue what to make of the Frick League Pacific prior to the start of the season.

So after that, how close were the Prop Bets?

*The Heartland Wild Card prop bet came down to the final game of the final sim. Hawaii held the final spot which would have prevented the yes bets from winning. But Twin Cities edged out the Tropics in the end for the Yes bets to hit a huge payday! Two bettors took the yes, costing the Book $90 in payouts.

*The Mexico City Aztecs had 16 rainouts (according to the number of double headers they played this season. The over/under was set at 13.5. So not a bad prediction there and the overs took the bets. The book lost money here as one big bettor took the over despite more bets coming in on the under. Big money cost the book.

*The Book set the HR total at 52. Three players reached surpassed that mark. Relix Roman ended with 58. So our mark was a little low, but considering only 3 guys got to that mark it wasn't a terrible prediction. The Book lost a little on this bet, paying out over $76.

*The Book set the over/under on a pitchers wins at 20.5. Timo Dooley of Omaha saved the day for the two guys who bet the over.

*There were two no-hitters thrown this year. One was early in the season and the book sweated out the under, pocketing a total of $5 on this prop.

*The Book did an excellent job pairing Bourgos from Louisville against Stinson from San Antonio in an RBI race. Stinson edged out Bourges 117 to 116. One bettor took Bourges, allowing the Book to pocket another $5 in profit.

*In a highly bet prop, Twin Cities claimed more wins than Sacramento this season. Despite losing their GM late in the season, the River Monsters still cost the Book over $150 in losses this season. The Book is not very happy with the Mad Popes and their lack of fight right now!

*The Team News was an interesting one and one easy to manipulate if you bet it. Only one GM as of now eclipsed the 120.5 O/U it was set at. Jacksonville hit the over and is still going. The Book pocketed a whopping $.45 on this prop.

*The All-Star game was one by the Johnson League. Again. Which is why their odds were higher than the Frick's in payout and juice. Nonetheless, the book still lost $4 and change with the JL win. They'd have lost more had the Frick won though.

*In the Reini vs Armstrong strikeout race, this was never really close. Despite being a releiver, Reini showed a change in the league as he out K'd Armstrong 341-220 despite throwing 28 less innings. The book lost a little as not a lot of action came in on this bet.

*In regards to Valle vs Wullenweber in wins this season, the Book profited here as bettors were all over Valle and his better win chances with Yellow Springs. Nonetheless, Wullenweber out "winned" Valle 20-15, earning the book $39 in profits.

*Bettors knew someone would win 105. And they probably knew Yellow Springs was the team to go with. the Nine won 107 games this season, making bettors sweat it out until the final sim. The Book lost just under $90 on bets here.

*In another interesting prop, Roman and French squared off against Zhao and Barajas in a Boise vs Rockville homerun clash. Roman paced the entire BBA with his season high 58 homeruns and carried French to the win. French only managed 13 homeruns but their 71 total out paced the 33 and 29 hit by Barajas and Zhao. The Book lost just under $40 here.

*The hidden 105 losses bet was a no-contest. Portland, Valencia, and El Paso raced to see who could lose more as all 3 surpassed 105 losses landing one bettor a win.

Interesting Bets:
Joe with Boise landed an interesting Parlay as he parlayed the Over on Las Vegas Wins, Over on Vancouver Wins, and the Under on Long Beach wins. His $50 bet on those 3 to hit landed him $282 in Brewster Bucks thanks to the boosted odds.

Josh with Atlantic City tried to strike it big with a parlay of his own. Josh took a 4-leg parlay that would have landed him $655.98 on a $5 bet. All he needed was: Heartland WC Yes (Check), Over on No-Hitters (LOST), Valencia Over in Wins (Lost), and Rockville/YS to win Landis (un-determined)

Chad in Nashville threw all $100 of his Bucks on the Blue Birds to win the Landis. Thanks for the donation, Chad!

Let’s be honest, my $299 Brewster Bucks = your $90 Brewster Bucks. We’re all winners.

Did u make some prop bets for landis?

Most combined runs runs scored in series 1st or 3rd?
First player to get a hit (odd / even) uniform #.
Total home runs by YS9?
Leadoff home run in top 1st by either team in series?
Staff to have most strikeouts?
Does the series end on a strike out?

....TAKE MY MONEY!
