Pitching Staff Rankings

Inspired by Ron having some fun with my pitching tables, I decided to expand on his idea and take a look at how different staffs compare to each other using various metrics from my table of fun. Some notes below before we get started

-Data is as of the end of this sim (through 2 August 2045), so it includes 2 days worth of games after the last full rankings update i posted
-I did NOT take into account injuries or player status, so each player will be listed for the team they last started a game for
-I couldnt decide if it was better to sort the groupings by avg place or avg score, so me being me, I did both (and both numbers are listed).

These rankings break down where each individual pitcher matches up vs his peers (i.e every team's #1 ranked against all the other #1s, 2s vs 2s etc). I have listed the overall place as a frame of reference for where they fit in league wide.

For this breakdown, i took a look at the top 2/3/4/5 scores on each team to get an idea of the various levels of depth. The place and scores listed are the average total for each team, to give a frame of reference as far as where they fit into the league as a whole. The tables are sorted by avg score, however the rank for avg place is listed as well.

-New Orleans is a team built for the playoffs, because they drop their #5 and their 1-4 are very very good (front by 2 of the best in the league in garcia/armstrong).
-Omaha's depth is impressive through 5, as their 5th starter would be #3 on over half of the teams in the league.
-3 teams come in with 5 starters inside the top 100 and while people are probably not surprised by Omaha and Yellow Springs, there might be some surprise to see Charlotte in there as well. The Plan 2.0 is built around pitching and it looks like Brett Golden has put together a worthy staff there of mostly interchangeable parts.
-Fred Holmes needs to find some pitching down there south of the border...

The secret is out! With Turner coming up next season, and hopefully Franco can be a little more consistent and lucky (.318 babip), we might surprise a few more people next season. Next year, take the over on Charlotte!

Your 4-5 guys are slightly better than the majority of the league, so your full rotation depth is slightly better relative to your top end quality yes.

Very interesting stuff. Expected to finish much worse on this but at least it shows how shitty my #5’s have been. I guess I shouldn’t fire my pitching coach yet

i admit most of mine have minimal written analysis, i would rather present the data and let others draw their own conclusions and observations. That being said, i enjoy doing them so im glad that people are enjoying them.
