Vancouver 13 - Long Beach 3
Oh you poor, pitiful, Surfers. For the second consecutive sim we start off with a Vancouver FUBAR. After going the first 12 sims without one, they've now gotten two in a row (amazing how playing Long Beach can help you out there.) Jorge Alfaro only managed to get one out in the start before allowing 8 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks. None of those were homeruns oddly enough. Those were allowed by Bernd Zintel who gave up one each to Jeffrey Smith and Angel Gonzalez. Gonzalez had 3 hits in all in the game for Vancouver and 3 runs batted in.
San Fernando 13 - Seattle 3
The Bears had 20 hits in the game including 7 for extra bases. Luis Maldonado was a double shy of the cycle on the evening. He went 3-5 with 4 runs scored and 4 RBI, including belting his 33rd homerun of the season. In all, the first 5 hitters in the SF lineup combined to go 12 for 25 with 7 runs batted in and 8 runs scored. Hector Marquez fell to 5-5 with the loss as he allowed 7 runs on 10 hits in 4 innings pitched. Jose Ramos added fuel to the first with his 6 runs on 10 hits in 3.2 innings of relief.
July 1
Madison 14 - Louisville 4
Despite trailing 2-0 after 3 innings, the Wolves bats got it going to rally for a FUBAR win thanks to a 7-run 4th inning and a 6-run 6th. The 4th inning was highlighted by a pair of homeruns by Ross Quicker and Manny Martinez. The solo shot by Quicker was his 16th of the season. The 6th inning was capped by a pair of doubles by Guerra and Pedro Martinez. The Sluggers pitching was plagued by walks in this one as the trio of arms used by Louisville all walked 3 guys each for 9 in all. Sanchez, the starter, picked up his first loss of the season by allowing 6 runs on 4 hits and 3 walks.
July 2
Boise 14 - Las Vegas 1
Everything about this game was lopsided as the Spuds not only outscored the Hustlers 14-1, but outhit them by a total of 21-2!! Dennis French, Ricardo Ruiz, and Felix Roman had 4 hits each in the win. Roman hit a solo homerun, his 25th of the season in the 6th inning. Ruiz had 4 RBI while French added a pair of RBI and 2 runs scored. Miguel Abline saw his ERA soar to 8.38 on the season as he allowed 5 runs on 5 hits and a walk in just 1.1 inning of work in relief for Vegas.
July 3
Atlantic City 10 - Wichita 0
Your standard, boring 10-0 FUBAR that saw the Gamblers score a run in the 8th and 4 in the 9th to get the feature write-up. Eight of the nine bats in the AC lineup had a hit in this one, highlighted by Juan Rivera's 35th homerun in the opening inning. Rivera finished 2-5 with an RBI and run scored. Illingworth went 3-5 to lead the hit parade for the Gamblers while Younger tacked on 3 RBI for AC. Jose Montoya fell to 3-7 with the loss, allowing 5 runs on 7 hits in 3.1 innings pitched.
July 4
Nashville 12 - Long Beach 1
And there we have it everyone! The last team to make its debut into the FUBAR feature, the Nashville Bluebirds. And it is only fitting that they get a FUBAR win against Long Beach who falls to.....0-10 in FUBAR games this season. And it's only fitting that Nashville scored 2 runs in the 9th inning to make it happen as well. The big blow however was a 6-run 3rd inning in which the Birds hit 3 homeruns, one each by Kidane Ata, Claudio Perez, and Robert Franklin. It was Franklin's first homerun of the season and his only hit of the game. The Surfers pitching, which is getting way too much publicity in this feature, was lowlighted by Lozano's 6 runs on 7 hits in 2.1 innings pitched and Patchett's 4 runs on 5 hits while recording just 2 outs on the mound.
