2042 Season Ticket Sales Begin

With the league entering its 70th season, the BBA is celebrating heavily and Season Tickets are beginning to fly off the shelf. That’s what a recent BBA commissioner’s office report says, anyway. The league as a whole has already sold 352,763 tickets to its rabid fan base, with Yellow Springs leading the charge at nearly 15,800.

“It’s going to be a great season,” said Smedly Montague, a rep from the BBA central finance office as he used a roll of cash to light his cigar. “All that extra cash has to go somewhere, and we got just the places.”

Calgary fans registered in at #2 on the list with 14,600 tickets sold, Long Beach fans continue to not really care about winning while shelling out their cash. The Surfers are #3 at 14,300 tickets sold. California is 4th (13,900), and then comes … perhaps oddly … Omaha. Or, well, perhaps not so oddly. The Hawks are coming off a horrible season on the field, but slashed their ticket prices to $13. As a result, they’ve sold out28% of their stadium and fans are actually kind of buzzing. I’m sure it doesn’t hurt that the team is throwing cash at players, too.

The Nine also lead the league in raw revenue generated in season tickets, though it’s a close race between the Ohio club and the derelicts in Louisville, with both sitting north of $21.75M generated after selling out about a quarter of their seats. Las Vegas, Rockville, and Long Beach round out the top five.

After their leadership change, Chicago leads the league as a ratio of their stadium’s capacity, having sold 31% of their space already. Rockville is close behind ate 29%,with Edmonton, and Omaha at 28%.

“We like looking at Season Ticket sales because they give us a great sense of how our fans are viewing us,” said Yellow Springs GM Ron Collins. “We were able to sell thirty thousand tickets last year, and we look like we’re pretty close to that pace again. So that’s good.”

Across the league, the BBA has already generated more than $450M in revenue, and there’s still a month and a half until Spring Training begins.

That's a funny way of saying that Long Beach has the BBA's most loyal fan base. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Is there a way to see the market size of some of those teams? TWC is "Above Average"... I'm guessing some of those teams that pull fans regardless of how the team is performing have larger market sizes??

Even when TWC was competitive with Extreme Fan Interest and 95+ Fan loyal while making the playoffs, it was a juggle to fill the stadium. So I slashed the ticket price this season to bring in more fans... lol. Didn't know what else to do... Hopefully, the team starts performing this season, so I can get prices moving upward again.

Can a team change it's Market Size? As far as I know, there's no way to do that.

So... is there way to see the Team's market size? I bet there's a reason some teams can pull fans with higher ticket prices, even if the team is playing .500 ball or lower.

Market size can change, though I don't know the algorithm...and, yes, I'm sure it makes some difference--as does fan loyalty and whatnot.

Man I lowered mine again. I didn't expect to be one of the higher prices. Still top half in total season ticket revenue though.

CCJ fan interest continues to rise, so I'd suggest your market is bearing 23 bucks just fine.

Ok... found it. Expansion teams, CCJ and TWC have similar franchise records (.484 vs .470), but CCJ's market size is Big, 2 levels above TWC's at "Above Average". So... although the team's Fan Interest is the same (76 vs 75), CCJ is able to pull $6,000,000 more in season ticket prices despite the ticket price being more than twice TWC's. I had tried to leave our ticket prices a little higher last season and got crushed with low sales.

Even the other new expansion teams have larger market sizes than TWC... lol.

I'd be very interested in what drives changing it because it's never changed since I took over TWC in 2032. It seems to have more influence than I was previously aware on ticket sales. TWC's is the same size as some of the UMEBA teams.

I imagine how successful the team matters, but I bet there's a lot of random stuff in both directions.

Yes, there are a lot of moving parts. It's why I've taken to thinking it's best not to equate teams head-to-head, but instead follow a single team over the years.

I think the market stuff was randomized when the league started. I've always had a big market. I think it takes a lot for the market size to change organically.

My FI is at 100. Never moved since we started.

I set my ticket prices really high year one and panicked because I didn’t sell a lot of tix. I’m thinking after the Season Ticket period expires, I’ll bump my prices up to around 15-16. Hoping I sell close to 50% in season ticket sales and then see what I can sell with jumped prices.

It really doesn’t matter as much with local contracts equalized and gate revenue nearly split

We lowered prices in Omaha for season tickets(which is estimated to be at 25,000 now btw) but once the season begins they will rise.

No doubt. Well, it's only a matter of time before I drive California into the ground. Then, I'll have my chance at building from nothing...
