Glad to see my defense performing well despite a step back in outfield defense from Machiavelli, Wood, and Villanuela to Wood, Villanuela and Garcia to now Salas, Machiavelli and Wood. That will likely stick for the rest of the season since Salas seems to be keeping his head above water and I expect him to punish lefties. My PAA numbers will likely come down as the end of the season nears, but I'm pleased with my defense right now.

And JAX/RCK/SFB toward the bottom. All of them are gone now. Bottom line, I suppose, is that you don't have to be brilliant everywhere but it's hard to beat good teams with big holes in your roster.

You can see what was propping up my starting rotation through most of the season. To give the devil his due, a lot of those outfield plays were Lorenzen in CF. Hard for even elite defense to make up for no offense and a rotation of, essentially, two guys, though ...

I need to find a way to weight these by actual GB/FB each defense fielded.

My defense really tanked when I started cross training in late August.

Honestly from some tinkering the past few years, I can really see the value of good defense. Last year we were elite defenders and over achieved like crazy. This year we were total trash with better pitching and offense but less defense.

Brooklyn actually recorded the second-fewest errors this past season, which shows having sure-glove fielders is great and all but doesn't mean a whole lot if they can't get to balls hit in play.

Would that significantly reshuffle this list, do you think?

I don't think it would be significantly different.

my groundball rating tanked after I moved my infielders around to protect their ratings at positions they don't play for me anymore
