10 Reasons Why the Vancouver Mounties will NOT make the playoffs
I thought I would write a quick parody on Ron's article "10 Reasons Why the San Antonio Outlaws will make the playoffs".
1. José Zamora forgot how to pitch this season. It's amazing to think that only two seasons ago, Zamora finished with a 4.1 WAR. He even finished last season with a 3.4 WAR. This season, he might not even reach 2 WAR.
2. The injuries have really hurt Vancouver this season. Alexandre Doyle, arguably Vancouver's best performing pitcher this season, is currently out for a year with a ruptured UCL. Rashardo Menne III missed a few weeks of games like he does every season and when your best player gets injured, it will negatively impact your team greatly.
3. The Mounties rank last or near last in all team offensive stats, except for walks and stolen bases. In conclusion, this team can't hit.
4. Their free agent signings have underperformed this season, which was expected. Valeri Kharlamov was brought in to bring fans to the games as he is no where near a starting caliber second baseman anymore. The same can be said for Gerardo Fajardo on the mound. Domenic Wyatt has done what was expected, hitting under .200 and striking out a lot, but he still brings fans to games. Derrek Kennedy was definitely Vancouver's worst signing as he has a -0.8 WAR. Andres Martinez has quietly had a decent season, so not a terrible signing.
5. Opponents salivate at the chance of playing Vancouver, particularly when they are not playing in Vancouver's pitcher friendly stadium.
6. The team is last in the league in attendance, even though they are averaging more fans per game than last season.
7. Only one pitcher has double digit wins, Dermott Halford. So, that's not good.
8. Vancouver has the second worst record in the league, only behind Montreal. Of course another Canadian team decided to be worse than Vancouver this season, pretty rude of them if you ask me.
9. The team has lost their last 5 games. Another fun fact, the Mounties have the second worst losing streak this season, which was set at 13 games. And of course, Montreal lost 14 in a row. They just can't let Vancouver have anything.
10. The Vancouver Mounties are mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, which means they can't make the playoffs this season. This definitely hurts Vancouver's chances of making the playoffs.

With all of this said, you'll probably sweep me in our series coming up and knock me out of the playoffs.

Was it tough to narrow it down to just ten reasons?

That’s quite the insult. A team with no one on their roster yet is better than mine.

Re: 10 Reasons Why the Vancouver Mounties will NOT make the playoffs
For what it's worth, this is all in fun.
But I've sort of had a long standing rivalry with Vancouver since the 2000s in this league. SInce I'll be in Portland and will be in the same division, I intend to have some fun with it.

Re: 10 Reasons Why the Vancouver Mounties will NOT make the playoffs
I'm just getting some final shots in at the only team we're ahead of in our division before we're on opposite leagues come realignment.
Naturally I'm 100% prepared to be swept by Vancouver in this upcoming sim.

So does Montreal have a natural rival in it’s history? I certainly have not been able to create one since I took over because well..... Just look at the standings

Re: 10 Reasons Why the Vancouver Mounties will NOT make the playoffs
I honestly don't know if Montreal ever created one. Historically I'd think that since Montreal was always so good along with New Orleans and Vegas in the same division those would have made for good rivalries. Geographically I don't think Montreal ever created on.handaspencer wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2019 1:37 pmSo does Montreal have a natural rival in it’s history? Mine with Vancouver was because in the 2000s decade, Madison and Vancouver seemed to meet every year in the post-season so I just ran with it. When Joe and Brett ran the team we had some good series. I re-kindle it sporadically. But it was always me, as GM, causing the rivalry more-so than Madison vs Vancouver. I'm going to develop a storyline now with me going to Portland to make Vancouver my rival! I've been making comments like this:
in Portland TN articles already. We have to compete with Seattle, Boise, and all the California teams for fans in the area. Not so much Vancouver because they suck.

Sounds like there could be a natural Canadian kibitzing brewing, what, with Edmonton coming along and showing the hapless Mounties and Blazers how it's done.

Well my personal goals is to bring down Rockville but they don’t even acknowledge we exist for good reasons. Maybe I should focus on being the best Canadian team before I become the best team in the Atlantic
