I do feel pretty good. As I always put it, my projection is a median number, so I wouldn't expect to be nearly perfect, but I thought 7.7 games off was pretty good.Ted wrote: ↑Sat Jun 29, 2019 10:08 amI'm perusing the media guide, since it has some material about last season. Thanks for all the Diaz votes. Shame on whoever didn't vote for Pep. (It wasn't me Fred. I'm petty, but not that petty.)
Thanks for the prediction analysis, Ron.
Regarding this, Aaron, you should feel very very good. I did some looking around but comps are hard to find. Video game baseball is probably more predictable than anything in real life. However, I'd say the 2018 MLB season was pretty darn predictable as things go.
Well, our averages appear to be beating every major MLB projection system. PECOTA did the best for MLB last year, at 7.53 for mean absolute value difference (i.e. how many wins you are off by), which slightly edges Aaron's 7.7 career mark. That's the only total we didn't beat. Most of the other systems are in the 8's. I can't find standard deviation info and have gotten bored looking, but I thought this was pretty cool. Good job, us!

I’ll add my thanks and expressions of awe, too. Spent most of yesterday in a hospital waiting room, and the guide made the time pass quickly. The previews were awesome, but I also really enjoyed the historical pieces - incredible job, everyone.
I agree with those who say this is a great marketing tool for the league. It speaks volumes about the dedication and sophistication of the Brewster membership and leadership.

Re: 2039 BBA MEDIA GUIDE!
Great work in putting all of that together Ron.
I think Madison's projection is pretty spot on. If some guys opt out of contracts after 2039 season the the Wolves could be seeing a whole new roster direction in 2040. I don't expect much more than 70-75 wins on a positive spectrum this season.
It was fun diving back into the Pyramid HOF scheme again. I have about 6-8 pages of notes scattered through notebooks trying to put it all together again. Was really wanting to rank the guys 1-124 again but trying to separate guys was becoming very time consuming and difficult. Perhaps once I get the levels done I can go back and rank them all.

Re: 2039 BBA MEDIA GUIDE!
Just for reference, with 29 games left to the season, the Goats have officially beaten their Media Guide prediction of 65-97. The Goats currently stand at 66-67 and are currently sitting in 3rd place in the JLSE.

I would say about how bad my predictions were but it seems the entire thing is off...other than Rockville.

Sorry - wasnt meaning to call out your predictions. Was more meant to make sure people weren't taking the Goats lightly.
