HOF Analysis: 2B

Post by usnspecialist » Sat Apr 20, 2019 12:50 pm

Shown below is a chart of all of the 2nd Basemen enshrined in the BBA HOF, along with their career stats. The green filled box indicates they are above their positional average, the red or white indicates they are below the average.

This chart shows how far away from the average each player is at a given stat. 1.00 is exactly the mean, higher numbers are good, lower numbers are bad. This is not a perfect chart because it gives every stat the exact same weight, which isnt exactly accurate but it gives a decent picture of what we are looking at.

This one got me to go look up Eric Martin, whose numbers here look a little anemic. But, yeah, 7-time Zimmer Winner. Maybe voters weighed defense heavily here?

Thought Puckett might have a chance at all green stats. But those last years really took a toll on his K numbers. Especially the forgotten year in Greenville.

A career +162 ZR at 2B probably had something to do with it.

Ya there was not a single person who was all green, which I found somewhat surprising.
