RANDOM NEWS AND NOTES FROM AROUND THE LEAGUE

Image
CALIFORNIA SNAGS 1.5 GAME PACIFIC DIVISION LEAD
The Frick League Pacific Divisions features arguably the BBA's best pitching staff (California) versus the BBA's best hitting lineup (San Fernando). For most of the 2037, San Fernando has held a slight advantage in the match up, keeping a 1 to 3 game lead over the Crusaders. However, California has surged in the last three weeks, winning 15 of out 18 games, including two 4 game sweeps against Hawaii and the Seattle Storm.

During this current run Californa has done the following
- Two Shutouts - Including a 1-0 pitching dual against the Storm's Contreras (CG).
- In 10 of the 18 games - California's pitching yielded 2 runs or less
- 23 2/3 Inning Pitched by Miguel Ramos with only 10 Hits giving up and 3 runs.
- 6 HR's in 10 games by 1B Raul Hernandez

San Fernando has been the pace setter for the neck and neck all season, but suffered a set back last week going 3-4. Which can't be considered a "Bad Week", but the competition against the two teams has been so tight, that's all it took for the Crusader's to open a slight lead in the Pacific.

3B Emilio Morales
MORALES LIGHTS UP RIVER MONSTERS FOR 4 HOME RUNS in 3 GAMES

Emilio Morales is currently on pace to end somewhere on the Top 5 Single Season Home Run Record in 2037. With 54 Home Runs to date, Emilio is projected end up in the 65-70 Home Run range when all is said and done. The current Single Season HR record holder is Long Chamberlain, who hit 73 Home Runs with Jacksonville in 1986.
2nd - Davis Birch 70 HR (1985)
3rd - Long Chamberlain 67 (1987)
4th - Bob Ritcher 66 (2010)
5th - Carlos Gonzales (2031)

Emilio currently in a three way tie for 6th with 64 Homeruns (2035) and shares that spot with CC's Carlton Winston (2034) and Billy Wilson (1987).

Ruben Nunez
Jacksonville 1 - Phoenix 0 (8/16/2018)
RUBEN NUNEZ THROWS 1 HIT GEM AGAINST THE TALONS
Ruben Nunez came within one hit of throwing the BBA's 2nd Perfect Game in less than month. Ruben had 13K's in his 1 hit complete game shutout. The outing spoiled an excellent game by Phoenix's Jose Trujillo who only gave up 2 hits over 6 2/3 innings. Trujillo was also cruising into the 7th with the game tied at 0-0, when he gave up a one out Homer to Victor Batista, which proved to be the game winner.

With one week to go before the BBA heads into the final month of the 2037 season, Two of the Johnson League divisions appear to have runaway leaders (Rockville 11.5 Game Lead & Jacksonville 16.5 Game Lead). However, the Sun Belt Division has a closer match with Pheonix leading Las Vegas by 5 1/2 games. Las Vegas went 4-3 last week to gain a 1/2 game on the Talon's 3-3 week. Looking forward into September, the two teams have one last match up in the 2nd week for a three game series, which could be critical depending how the next weeks progress.

Las Vega's Gervasio Ridder is on an incredible streak of 8 home runs in 7 games with 14 RBI's during the run.

While Phoenix is holding onto the 3rd Best JL record with a just enough pitching (5th - JL) and scoring the most runs in the Johnson League (and 2nd HR - JL). The offense is going have to keep up the pressure on the news that the injury recovery of Free Agent #1 Starter, Lawernce LaLoosh, was going to take another 4 months, effectively ending his 2037 season. Even with his 6-3 record, some experts didn't feel LaLoosh was earning his $21.6 Million 2037 salary before being injured with his 4.00 ERA.

I was starting to lose faith in my decision to show Ridder the money, but he's making it worth my while of late.
Both he and Rectenberg are on fire lately.
