This Week in the BBA - Notes & Highlights (2037 - Week 16) Wolves... Not Dead Yet / Pikemen Unstoppable
WOLVES DEFY PUNDITS...
The Rumors of Madison's inevitable "Fade" seem to be greatly exaggerated. The Wolves looked to be slowly sliding out of play-off contention, however with Twin Cities and Omaha having a tough couple of week, Madison has wedged itself between the two in the Heartland Division race. There's only 1 game separating all three teams after Madison leap-frogged Omaha by a 1/2 game last week. The Wolves are also in the 2nd Wild Card Sport, 2 games back of the California Crusaders for the top Wild Card Spot.
In an unusual twist, Madison's current Team Leader in Wins (8) , Angel Guerro was claimed off waivers by Long Beach. While Wolves' offense has been strong so far, they rank 11th in the Frick in Runs Allowed. There doesn't appear to be a true #1 Starter on the team. The best Starter appears to be 39 YO Mario Gonzales who's currently on a one year deal with Madison. While Noonien Soong just went back on DL after recently returning from an extended stay there.
Madison has salary cap room to make a deal for a starter, but... Is this the year to make a move?
THE HOTTEST TEAM IN THE BBA
Rockville is currently in the midst of an unbelievable hot streak... By the Numbers
- 11 Game Win Streak (3 Series Sweeps)
- 26 Wins and 4 Losses in last 30 Games - Won 7 Straight Series
On June 8tth, Rockville held a 1 game lead over Montreal and Brooklyn. That lead has been extended to 12 1/2 games as a result of this current run and currently holds the 3rd Best Record in the BBA at 59 wins (Pheonix has 59 wins, but 3 more losses).
Arthur Dempster
9-5, ERA 3.31
The list of players current on hot streaks would almost fill a line up card, but the team is being lead by Arthur Dempster who has gone 5-0 in his last 6 starts with a 1.20 ERA. He's racked up a lofty 65 strikeouts in 45 innings pitched during the stretch, including a 1 Hitter Complete game against Louisville.
IS THE FRICK NEBRASKA ALREADY DECIDED?
Miguel Ramos
Miguel Ramos finished 2nd the BBA in 2036 with 19 wins... He's already reached 15 Wins in July and should have 10-12 more starts to add to that total. At this current pace, he should exceed 20 Wins and has a decent chance to reach 24-25 wins... which puts him on pace for the most wins in a season since 2030 Frick League Nebraska winner John Chandler (23 wins) or 2032 Johnson League Nebraska Winner Egbert Behner (22 Wins).
Ramos is currently leading the BBA in the following categories
ERA - 1.89 (2nd 2.45 Lynch)
ERA+ 231 (2nd 181 Lynch)
Wins - 15 (2nd 14 Zamora)
WAR - 4.9 (2nd 4.8 Dempster)
OP AVG - .177 (2nd .193 Ruiz)
Win % - .882 (2nd .833 Brown)
Also, 2nd in the FL for Strikeouts with 153
His closest competitors are likely
Bobby Lynch EDM 10-3, 2.45 ERA
Joey Zamora VAN 14-6 3.35 ERA - 8 Complete Games
Ernie Kinney SFB 12-5 2.81 ERA
Leon Sandcastle
41 Years Old, 21 Seasons, 105.2 Career WAR, 468 Career HR's, 3,099 Career Hits
14 All Star Appearances
2 Sawyer Silk Trophies
6 Gold Gloves
6 Gold Bats
3 BBA Championship Rings
The inability of BBA professionals to run the bases may have resulted in a career ending injury for Future Hall of Famer, Leon Sandcastle. At 41 years old, Leon broke his leg base running in a game against Twin Cities. With a projected recovery of 3 months, it appears that his 2036 season is over.
Leon has refused to make a statement on the status for 2038. However, Charm City has Team Option for $1.8 Million Buyout for next season and with Sandcastle due to make $7.5 Million if the Jimmies bring him back, his short stint in Charm City may be over as well.
It's reported that Professional Beisbol Coach, Domingo Ayala, was heartbroken over the news....

ramos has to be the massive favorite at this point. Hell California might even go 1-2 if gracia has a good 2nd half.

And now my hopes are up. Time for the hopes to be dashed.
We have no clear starting pitchers. Been using what I can make of a Brooklyn strategy off an on this season piecing together random rotations from sim to sim. In terms of pitching stats it hasn’t worked. In terms of winning games, well, we’re dojnf ok there I guess.
And Guerrero has 8 wins to lead the team but also had a negative WAR and a WHIP ofer 2.00. Mainly in the game at the right time. So I’m not sure I’m losing a whole lot there.
