This Week in the BBA - Notes & Highlights (2037 - Week 12)
Random Stuff from Around the League
Lawernce LaLoosh
3.97 ERA, 6W-3L
Pheonix dodged a bit of a bullet this last with when Multiple Nebraska Winner, "Crash" LaLoosh, suffered a partially torn labrum while pitching against Nashville on June 17th. There was a hush over the crowd when Crash grabbed his shoulder after striking out Harold Smith with three pitches. When preliminary reports came out that there was a tear in LaLoosh's shoulder, many feared an extended recovery, greater than 12 months, as is typical with such injuries. However, Team doctors are optimistic that LaLoosh should be able to return in August, just in time to keep Phoenix in the hunt and possibly contribute for a playoff run.
There were hints of trouble after Huntsville knocked LaLoosh around in his previous outing, scoring 9 runs in just 6 innings. However, LaLoosh had looked strong against Nashville before going down in the third inning.
Charm City 2 Wins in Last 13 Games
Charm City continues to struggles after going 2-5 in the last week, extending a tough stretch that's seen the Jimmies win 2 games over the last 2+ weeks. The struggles are across the board with the team ranking 2nd to Last in both Runs Scored and Runs Allowed. The malaise seems to be affecting everyone, including All Star Carlton Winston, who's having his worst season in his career at the plate.
Closer Shawn Huber
20 Games - 1.33 ERA, 20 Saves, 0.88 WHIP
There hasn't much more of the sure thing in the late innings recently as Las Vegas Closer, Shawn Huber. In his last 13 appearances, Shawn has a .53 ERA, with only 1 earned running and 7 hits in 17+ innings. Huber has been a solid reliever for Las Vegas for several seasons, however 2037 is projecting to be his best career year to date.
Huber's rewarding the Front Office's confidence in him after the Hustlers signed him to a 3 year extension worth $10 Million+ per season. He finished 2nd Last Season for the Egan Reliever of the Year award, but it seems he will have a legit shot to bring home the award in 2037.
Mons Raider
Mons Raider is back playing Second Base fulltime and it seems to be having a positive effect on his time at the plate. After a 2036 cut short by injuries, Raider is currently leading the league in stolen bases (73) and On Base % (.436). He's on pace to have career best WAR and come close to matching his BBA Single Season Stolen Base record with 162 that was set in 2033 (173). It's a terrifying combo for any Pitcher and Catcher in the league. The whole Madison offense seems transformed by having Raider back to his typical self and the Wolves are 2nd in the Frick League for Runs Scored with 421.
It's no coincidence that 1B Jon Mick is leading the BBA in RBI's.
Seattle's recent Hot Streak came to halt against unlikely Hawaii, after dropping the first two games of three game set against the Tropics. However, Seattle has managed to take a 1/2 Game Lead over California for the Top Wild Card Spot after trailing the Crusaders by 1 1/2 Games the previous week. However, the Storm actually fell another game behind surging Edmonton who continues their solid play.
Rookie SP Luther Summers incredible debut continues in June after winning Rookie of the Month for May. In his last 9 starts, Summers has 7 wins and zero losses. As previously reported, Summer is an unlikely BBA Starter who was drafted in the 10th Round in 2030. With Ken Walter's early season struggles seemingly behind him, look for Seattle to put the heat on Edmonton in the coming weeks.

Some of Laloosh's ratings took minor hits... This may be the beginning of the end. Ignacio Rodriguez part deux anyone??

Maybe or maybe not, a couple of those look like they’ve yo-yo’d before.jiminyhopkins wrote: ↑Mon Jan 14, 2019 6:06 pmSome of Laloosh's ratings took minor hits... This may be the beginning of the end. Ignacio Rodriguez part deux anyone??
But I get the concern about the timing.

Re: This Week in the BBA - Notes & Highlights (2037 - Week 12)
The game has been doing a better job at creating warning signs for injuries. LaLoosh had shoulder tendinitis last year and now a partially torn labrum. You really have to wonder if there is a bigger injury on the horizon. I don't knock the signing at all though and certainly am not hoping an injury happens. It was the right player for the right team.
I think as we move forward, OOTP is making us focus more on injury prevention. It won't be as cut and dry as "Iron Man" and "Fragile". If we can pick off tips then we may be able to prevent some injuries. In almost every pitcher injury I've seen lately the player pitches really poorly in the appearance before he gets hurt. I think I might try to start giving my pitchers an extra days rest after they get rocked and see what happens.

I'm just going to trade every pitcher with "forearm tightness", "shoulder soreness", or any prior major shoulder or elbow injury.ae37jr wrote: ↑Mon Jan 14, 2019 6:40 pmThe game has been doing a better job at creating warning signs for injuries. I kept laloosh on a semi-tight pitch count. I think he had more stats at over 105 pitches this year than he had the last three or so total. Not sure that made a difference, but there it is.

He was at 95-100 generally for me ... occasionally 105...90 sometimes when we went to a 4-man.

Raider is having a year much like 2033 when he finished 2nd in the league in Silk Voting.

Simpson is surprisingly streaky for a player of his talents. But I'm glad he did a lot of elevate and celebrate this week. He's definitely not semi pro.
