A quick look at players who made their BBA Debuts during 2036 Sims #24 and #25.

Image
Carlo Gargiulo, Atlantic City Gamblers
Birthdate: June 4, 2011 (25 y, 3 m, 20 d) Born In: Syracuse, SIC, ITA Nationality: Italian
Position: RF Bats/Throws: L/L Height/Weight: 6'4"/194
Entry: 2029 Draft - Round: 12, Overall: 349, Team: Vancouver Mounties

This is NOT a spicy meatball. Subpar defensive outfielder who can't really hit a lick. Has some speed but that's about it. Can't see a future for this guy in any way.

Image
Bungay Martin, Atlantic City Gamblers
Birthdate: Dec. 7, 2010 (25 y, 9 m, 17 d) Born In: San Fernando, CEN, PHI Nationality: Filipino
Position: C Bats/Throws: R/R Height/Weight: 6'1"/215
Entry: 07/27/2028- Signed a minor league contract out of Philippines with the Atlantic City Gamblers organization.

Martin is a pretty interesting catcher the Gamblers called up. He's got an ok arm, pretty decent defensive ability, and a knack for drawing walks. Those are the good traits. The bad news is his intangibles are a train wreck: low leader, low work ethic, low intelligence. That being said, a .373 OBP at the Triple-A level can't be ignored.

Robbie Hart, Boise Spuds
Birthdate: March 21, 2009 (27 y, 6 m, 3 d) Born In: Veazie, ME, USA Nationality: American
Position: 3B Bats/Throws: R/R Height/Weight: 6'3"/219
Entry: 2026 Draft - Round: 4, Overall: 104, Team: San Antonio Outlaws

At age 27 he finally got his big break with the Spuds. Cannon arm at third base but limited range and no positional versatility. Good power but a righty bat so he's extremely limited. Chances are this is probably his fifteen minutes of fame but a good story nonetheless.

Joey "Buttons" O'Brien, Louisville Sluggers
Birthdate: Jan. 8, 2017 (19 y, 8 m, 16 d) Born In: Des Moines, IA, USA Nationality: American
Position: SS Bats/Throws: R/R Height/Weight: 6'3"/191
Entry: 2034 Draft - Round: 1, Overall: 26, Team: Louisville Sluggers

Hey look, a real live actual prospect!!! Sure, his platoon split is the reverse of ideal, but he's a slick fielding shortstop who can hit a little- not for power but who can argue when you're Louisville and the current state that franchise is in. Figures to be the Sluggers everyday shortstop from here on out. Interesting that they didn't give him any positional versatility in the minors, but again, that's just nitpicking.

Brian "Voodoo" Soper, Yellow Springs Nine
Birthdate: March 19, 2013 (23 y, 6 m, 5 d) Born In: Standford Hill, ENG, ENG Nationality: English
Position: P Bats/Throws: R/R Height/Weight: 6'7"/212
Entry: 01/09/2030- Signed a minor league contract ($13,000,000 bonus) out of England with the Long Beach Surfers organization.

Acquired from Long Beach for David Cantu in 2034, Soper is a good looking righty reliever who amazingly pitched in 8 games in his first 14 days in the big leagues. A huge IFA bonus baby who actually made it all the way to the big leagues, he looks like he could be a big part of the Nine bullpen in years to come.

Image
Lucio Gomez, Atlantic City Gamblers
Birthdate: May 25, 2014 (22 y, 3 m, 30 d) Born In: Santo Domingo, DIS, DOM Nationality: Dominican
Position: P Bats/Throws: R/R Height/Weight: 6'6"/192
Entry: 2031 Draft - Round: 5, Overall: 155, 1Team: Montreal Blazers

Talent in spades for this power righty reliever. In his first four appearances already has notched two saves and struck out seven in nine innings. How badly will lefties hurt him- that will be the key.

Image
Cisco Chavez, Madison Wolves
Birthdate: May 7, 2014 (22 y, 4 m, 17 d) Born In: Barinas, BAR, VEN Nationality: Venezuelan
Position: P Bats/Throws: R/R Height/Weight: 6'5"/204
Entry: 2031 Draft - Round: 2, Overall: 67, Team: Huntsville Phantoms

Might have been rushed a bit as he still has plenty of development left on a changeup that will ultimately decide his fate- starter or reliever. Control will also be an issue for him should he be used as a starter, or even as a reliever (7 walks in his first 4 innings at BBA level). Maybe a decent reliever conversion candidate should all else fail.

I chuckled at your Chavez comment since (if my memory is correct), he was actually a SP conversion at one point.

? How did he get a 6 on the sinker? Would it be a 4?

Oh hey, Soper. I think he was my first IFA sign, or at least my first big one.

Chavez has been pretty much stuck all year on his ratings. He's on the 40-man so I figured I'd call him up this sim and see if by any chance some big league action may help bump the ratings some. At 22 years old, I figure he's getting on the tail end of development based on how some guys move up now so young.

Yep.

We swapped him for Cantu, and he's taken his sweet time getting ready. Per the game, he's faded from his 9/8/9 on your signing to 10/6/6. Still solid, I hope...but not the mega guy he looked like he might be.

No. It's a 40 on the internal rating. That can be anywhere from a 3 to a 6 depending on velocity, movement, gb percentage.

He came in as a '6' sinker from the start. I'm 2 for 3 on SP conversions as best I can tell (the other guy in my OMA days lumped before he made it, but had great POT straight out of the conversion) so I'm pretty confident in my methodology. Just gotta wait for the right guy to fall in my lap again.
