BBA Front Office Responds to Schedule Criticism
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
REGARDING THE BBA SCHEDULE
Long Beach, CA
June 10, 2033
The BBA Front Office wishes to respond to the recent allegations of schedule fixing and sub-optimal scheduling in general. Recent news articles have indicated dissatisfaction among teams and fans, and the BBA wishes to be transparent about baseball operations.
The BBA expanded to 28 teams (from 24) in 2029, and saw a drastic shift in league alignment. As with all significant changes, there will be kinks and problems to work out. Des Moines GM Edward Murphy contributed the current schedule for the league, and while it's not perfect, it was a significant contribution and should be appreciated.
With the advanced travel technology available in this day and age, afternoon games following travel days are not as burdensome as they once were at the turn of the century, however we understand that they are not ideal. This is just one of the issues that will be addressed in the next version of the BBA schedule.
We are not able to divulge details at this time, but rest assured that a new schedule is in the works. With the deluge of franchise relocation prior to the 2033 season, some teams may have travel schedules that are less than ideal. Fortunately, this is another issue that will be addressed in the updated BBA schedule.
Finally, the office wishes to be clear that there is absolutely no schedule fixing going on. No franchise would ever be intentionally put at a disadvantage, unless they happened to play in Yellow Springs, OH. In that case, well, they deserve all the difficulty that we can provide as punishment for being a superteam.
Please hang tight, and address any further schedule concerns directly to BBA PR Director Stephen Lane for consideration of incorporation into the new BBA schedule.

Re: BBA Front Office Responds to Schedule Criticism
Hawaii always gets the shaft. At least 3 back to back games this year are physically impossible to make.....
April 23... 12:05am(technically 4/30) in Hawaii
April 24....3:05pm in New Orleans
-------------------------------------------
15 Hours
Game takes approx. 3 hr
Shortest flight from Honolulu to New Orleans is 10 hr 18 min
That gives them 1 hr 42 minutes to shower, change, take the bus to and from airport.
August 5...12:05am(technically 8/6) in Hawaii
August 6... 1:05pm in Nashville
-----------------------------------------------
13 Hours
Game takes approx. 3 hr
Shortest flight from Honolulu to Nashville is 11 hr 6 min
August 17...12:05am(technically 8/18) in Hawaii
August 18... 1:05pm in San Antonio
-----------------------------------------------
13 Hours
Game takes approx. 3 hr
Shortest flight from Honolulu to San Antonio is 10 hr 55 min
I'm sure there are more examples of other teams visiting Hawaii and then going home. Luckily Brooklyn finishes the season up in Hawaii this year. But a few years ago we played like a 15 inning game in Hawaii and then had to play a day game in Brooklyn the next day.

Re: BBA Front Office Responds to Schedule Criticism
haha. yeah you throw Hawaii to the east coast in there, and it gets a little funky.
I believe it's inconsequential as far as the game is concerned, but for some reason I'm desiring to re-do the schedule. It's a nightmare, but I weirdly enjoy it.

Re: BBA Front Office Responds to Schedule Criticism
Stephen, if you are going to work on a revised schedule for next season, I found out that it was not as easy to complete as I thought it would be and was challenged to schedule all of the games into the number of days allowed. With that said, I would be happy to share what I learned from the experience with you, if you are interested.
Safe travels and Merry Christmas to all.

Hawaii and Havana being in the same division makes for some interesting travel also.

Re: BBA Front Office Responds to Schedule Criticism
In regards to what Ed said about fitting all the games in, since we expanded (even before he did the schedule) we've been running on a shortened season by 3-4 days. The seasons used to end on Oct 3 or so, and now we're ending on September 30th. Those extra 3 days off make a big difference. We're actually running 3 or so days shorter than the MLB season.

Re: BBA Front Office Responds to Schedule Criticism
I've tried to mess around with schedules and it is definitely a rabbit hole. That said, it's not ideal that teams spend virtually all of one month on the road then vice-versa all season so it would be great to address that.
