The Drew Zodcast 28.02 and 28.03 Johnson League Previews

Post by Chey » Tue Sep 13, 2016 1:55 pm

The Drew Zodcast
Kyle and I are finally back in action, breaking down all of the teams in the MBBA one at a time. Our Johnson League discussion ended up turning into a marathon with some fun banter about just what constitutes "elite" in this league, whether or not I'm aware of Elroy Hinson's existence, and why exactly Kyle hates Brett. With that in mind, we've turned it into two separate episodes, which only share a thread for ease of access for you, the listener!

You can listen to Episode 28.02 of the Zodcast here, where we cover the Johnson League Atlantic and the Johnson League Midwest.

Then you can wander over here for Episode 28.03, where we break down the Johnson League Pacific and then start talking Wildcard races and make some irresponsibly early playoff predictions.

Please let us know what you thought, and stay tuned for our Frick League previews hopefully coming down the pipe later this week.

When I open the links on my phone, it tries to open it in the podcast addict app and it doesn't work. The app I need is SoundCloud, right? Can I find the archives there by searching in-app for Zodcast rather than clicking the links?

I think if you search Zodcast they should all show up, but in what order I don't know.

PS- How incredible would Sanderson be if you were able to do a conversion on him? What the hell does a guy with 1 EN have 5 pitches for anyway?

Holy cow, McKillen is off to a really good start.

I think you are going to really love the extra advantages 27 men on the active roster give you, Kyle.

You have quite a lot of guys in AAA that could be effective in roles in the bigs this year, Kyle. I'm so PROUD of you! :)

I know I've already said it (in my FA article in the Media Guide), but man are you guys right, Omaha's bullpen is SCARY bad.

Archer might be one of the best clubhouse guys in the entire league.

Is Eisenhower a shoo-in for the Hall of Fame yet?

I think he'll still be ok at third base for another year or two. Last year looked like a fluke to me.

You COULD move Eisenhower to first base against LHP, just to shore up defense, I suppose.

Guzman looks a lot like a poor mans Rhodes, but lefty, and less power.

Speaking of flukes, Ibanez power surge? Or is your stadium that impactful?

Granados vs. Fernando Suarez (MAD). Almost the same, except Suarez is left-handed. That movement, though, that's why I waived him (way back in 2025).

I love relievers with tons of pitchers despite not having a ton of empirical evidence for it making a giant difference.

ROFL. I figured you'd be excited about that turn of events.

He posted nearly 6 WAR even with the terrible ZR. I always choose offense over defense.

A left-handed version of someone is NEVER the "poor man" in the equation. :P

Fluke. We've only played half our games at home so far.

I absolutely love Vancouver's rotation, except Granados. How stealth has Juan Hernandez been? Then three above average lefties? Almost as good as YS9.

Oh, and because I can:

All of a sudden Ramon Espinosa decided he's going to get on base? Dafuq?

Hawaii:

Jody Nunez is INCREDIBLE. Almost thought I had him this offseason.

I disagree, Kyle, Vancouver's rotation is better than Hawaii's in my opinion. You are highly overrating Hawaii's rote. Break it down, you'll see.

Their pen is really good. Clulow scares the crap out of me, though. Yeah, Sanchez is just the type of guy to shut down a Huntsville club in late innings.

I don't get why they're in love with Lawson at first base. He's not good enough for a team with this kind of aspirations.

Flores is now a right fielder, btw, with Joyride in CF (fresh off April Rookie of the Month).
