The Ben Dover Watch '24 - Sim 2

You dirty minded guys. What are the odds that in Sim 1 we had 9 Dover games and in sim 2 we have 6. Is it irony or was that planned? Or am I reaching a little to far on the sexual inuendos with this feature? Ah, what do I care what you think. Just read the feature and comment. We are beginning some interleague action so expect the number of times the Johnson League gets bent by the Frick league to begin to escalate the next few sims.

April 11
Indy 12 - Montreal 3
The Grasshoppers didn't take to getting bent so early in the season and are looking to take it out now on the rest of the league. Sergio Ramos homered and drove in 3 runs to lead the offensive charge for Indy. The game wasn't in reach of making it to this feature until Armando Lopez entered the game, promptly took position, and coughed up 4 runs on 4 hits in just .2 innings pitched. The damage came in the 8th inning. Fortunately most of the home crowd had left already and didn't have to witness the brutal treatment of Lopez.

April 13
Brooklyn 9 - California 1
Did you know the Crusaders went all of the 2023 season without losing a single Ben Dover game? They finished the season with a perfect 3-0 record. Well, the league's longest streak without a Ben Dover loss comes to an end at the hands of the Robins. Every member of the Brooklyn team had a hit with Albert Shoemaker leading the charge with 4 hits. Brooklyn tallied 17 hits as a team. Ten of the hits came off of Ricardo Diaz who allowed 6 runs on those 10 hits with 2 homeruns over 3 innings pitched.

April 16
Carolina 11 - Montreal 1
Oliver Queen and Frank Thomas III led the charge by going 6 for 9 (hehe) with 4 runs scored and 7 RBI combined. Thomas belted two homeruns, his 3rd and 4th of the season. One of those homeruns came off of Vicente Perez who allowed 5 runs on 5 hits and 5 walks over 4 innings pitched. It didn't help his cause that he struck out 6 as Carolina handed Montreal their 2nd Dover loss of the sim.

Las Vegas 11 - Calgary 1
Same Dover Day. Same Dover Score. Gotta love it when the Frick League Dovers each other. Makes those of us in the Johnson League feel a little more secure about ourselves when you guys give it to us repeatedly in interleague play. Miguel Gonzalez hit his 2nd homerun of the season and drove in 4 RBI in the game. Juan Lucero failed to make it past the 4th inning for the second straight start as he allowed 5 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks in just 3 innings pitched. He's made 3 starts this season and totaled just 11.2 innings.

April 19
Halifax 8 - Atlantic City 0
Has there been a Ben Dover game in which the starting pitcher for the losing team went 8 innings, allowing just 2 runs? Probably not. Until now. The Hawks scored 6 runs in the top of the 9th inning to blow a 2-0 game into a Dover game. This was really a whacky game too when you consider 4 of the 6 runs in the 9th were unearned. It made handing out the Dover award difficult. It goes to Hani Tinsley who allowed 2 EARNED runs on 2 hits without recording an out. He lasted just 5 pitches, perhaps our shortest Ben Dover honor yet.

Brooklyn 8 - Carolina 0
WOOOOOO!!!!! Two Johnson wins over the Frick league already this season. It's a new age. First Kyle breaks the streak of Landis titles for the Frick League and now the Johnson league is ready to kick ass over the Frick League. While Fernando Moran was pitching a complete game shutout for the Robins, Pierre Simonse was walking 2 batters, allowing 2 more hits, and surrendering 3 runs in 1.2 innings to take the Dover award.
