2063 - World Cup of Baseball Team USA
Taking an idea from Vancouver, we have decided to try and put together an All-USA team in order to crush the All 51st State Team that Aaron posted earlier. One of our criteria was that the players must be currently on the major league roster, so no prospects. According to the filter of "all BBA players" selected for MLB level and nationality USA, 560 of 1078 current BBA players fall under this distinction. It's a ratio of just over 50%, notably less than that other fake league in that alternate reality of 2025 that records nearly 70% of all players as US-born.
We used mainly overall ratings on the 20-80(+) scale, because we are lazy. When possible, we tried to give credit for longevity, but a few 22 year-olds made it in. We also tried to look for results, such as a recent 5+ WAR season. But surely we did not get them all. What do you think? Did we miss anyone?
Starting Lineup:
C Allan Uecker, POR
1B Raul Gallehos, TWC
2B Dave Ackerman, CCJ
3B Ollie Long, CAL
SS Brooks Eliot, NSH
LF Adrian Tallent, PHX
CF Lou Bayou, SAC
RF Resurrection Santos III, CAL
DH Mynorli Gaajlimitz, POR
Holy crap, can this team hit!! Massive contact skills from guys like Tallent and Gaajlimitz, massive power from guys like Ackerman and Gallehos, and massive defense from guys like Santos, Bayou, and Eliot. The only issue is, how do you put these guys in any sort of batting order? And, there probably could be a bit more raw power, but there will be so many guys on base that it might not matter. Overall, What's not to love?
Bench:
C Sam Butler, CPF
1B Mathew Malone, TWC
IF Domingo Chavez, CHA
IF Jaime Serna, MTL
OF Jorge Herrera, AUS
OF George Stickler, SAN
We put Malone at 1B, even though he is listed as a catcher (with a 3 position rating). All but one of these guys is 22 yrs old or younger, so that's why they didn't make the starting lineup. Stickler in particular is going to be a beast, while Serna and Chavez are good middle infield backups. Sam Butler might look like a weak spot, but don't forget he had a 5 WAR season last year.
Starting Rotation:
SP Eric Stevens, NSH
SP Jim Fleming, LV
SP Stevie Bodine, CHI
SP Adam Hines, CHI
SP Mark Lolololo, PHX
To be honest, we thought there would be more in terms of starting pitcher talent in the good ol' US of A. But with Uecker catching, any rotation can be world-beating, especially this one. As with the hitters, we didn't put them in rotation order. So who is your ace? We might choose Hines for his 7 EN and 5 pitches, but it could be any one of these guys.
Bullpen:
RP David Molina, ROS
RP Dave Furman, VAL
RP Jose Torres, CBH
RP Carlos Williams, SFB
RP Gheorghe Sollomovici, HAW
CL Serge Elovsky, VAN
CL Jesus Martinez, ATC
Controversially, we elected to put Molina in the bullpen due to his 3 EN, even though he is having a great beginning to his season in the Bombers rotation. That's OK, it just makes the bullpen all that much stronger. And we might even need him to close, because Sollomovici and now Elovsky are currently dinged up. Who would you put in their place? Would you put in Winston Morris from the US territory of Guam? Or should he be on the ALL GUAM team??
We would love to see some other GMs take up the mantle and choose different countries (or continents!) Who ya got??

Maybe it's my GBC-colored glasses, but I think Cairo's Blair Peyton would make a great bench option (pinch hit vs LHP, pinch run, defense sub) over Herrera...he really compliments Stickler, the big bopper OF reserve versus righties.
Really enjoying this series, nice work!

We didn't include the GBC, but probably should have! Thanks for the addition!Graham wrote: ↑Wed May 28, 2025 12:21 amMaybe it's my GBC-colored glasses, but I think Cairo's Blair Peyton would make a great bench option (pinch hit vs LHP, pinch run, defense sub) over Herrera...he really compliments Stickler, the big bopper OF reserve versus righties.
