Minor League Age Limits Should be Age at Start of the Season

Post by lordtoffee » Mon Oct 09, 2023 11:00 pm

Rationale for this proposal is that while the current age limits have been a good idea, this change would avoid a situation where a player in SA or Rookie ball ages out during the middle of the season and could cause more roster churn at those levels than normal.

Golly who could have suggested this three months ago?

The endless roster shuffle is definitely not worth the hassle. It almost feels like a litmus test for whether someone is paying attention, which is only good if you’re catching people who aren’t and bad for everyone else.

They could fix this by advancing this setting one year at the beginning of the year and reducing it at the end of the year, where the worst consequence is that a player with an April-June birthday might get one more year in a lower league.

I believe OOTP is working on making this possible.

Nothing needs to be reverted to make this happen. Instead, the "roster warning" about being too old just needs to be ignored by Recte after the first day of the season.

The game enforces this. It also warns you when you need to move a player.

Update 24.9.78:

Changelist:
Fixed ball levitating outside of glove on different player model scales
Fixed H/E in live starts
Fixed issues with owner goal evaluation (finances, not scaling properly)
Allow players to remain in league for the season they age out of a league
Adjusted coach relationship with players (should cause less impossible signings, especially during the season)

Well this plan backfired. It was only in place to stop the mighty Toledo juggernaut.

To confirm, this means that they just need to be at or below the age limit at the start of the season, correct? I appreciate that the devs made this easier to manage.
