Application from Morris Ragland - New Applicant

Post by Anonymous » Sat Mar 13, 2021 4:45 pm

A user, Morris Ragland, has applied with the following information using the application form.
Real name: Morris Ragland
IP: 72.204.10.165
Email: morriragland@protonmail.com
Applying for: New Applicant
Reason for applying:
Experienced with both Ootp (since 8) and contributing to a shared, fictional baseball universe. Work and other life obligations forced me to take a break from online leagues a few years ago, but I feel like I'm ready to jump back in. It doesn't look like you have any current openings, but I'll happily wait for the next vacancy, whether in BBA or UMEBA. I see some familiar names here. I hope past associations won't be held against me.
First/Last Name: Morris Ragland
City/State/Country: Fayetteville, AR, USA
Email Address: morriragland@protonmail.com
OOTP Forums Username: Mandrake
Desired Forum Username: mragland
Date of Birth (MM/DD/YY) for in-game purposes: 02/23/2004
Occupation: Insurance Underwriter
Other OOTP Leagues (with links): None currently. Former GM of the Incheon Inchworms (WBH) and Okinawa Shisa (PEBA; http://pebabaseball.com/).
Have you read the BBA Constitution and agree to abide by its rules?: I have, and I do.
Do you own the current version of OOTP, and plan to buy all future versions?: I do.
Do you understand the Participation Point System, and agree to be a regular contributor to our community?: I do.
What interests you about the BBA?: I have enjoyed participating in online fictional leagues in the past, and this appears to be a good one. I'm eager to stretch those creative writing muscles again.
Describe your GM style: Strategic, flexible, and pragmatic. While I operate with a long-term vision for a club, I can also make things up as I go. I tend to favor sinker/slider pitchers, switch hitters, and elite infield defense.
Have you ever answered to the alias "Al Hoot"? (a little BBA inside joke!): I have not. Looks like he left an impression.
Tell us more about yourself: We've just moved into a new house and I need a break from yard work.
How did you hear about the BBA?: I first came across this league years ago when I was looking at online league constitutions (you know, for fun). I was specifically looking at how the Participation Point System worked here, and made a mental note to look into joining someday.

Thank you for the welcomes. I gathered a few random questions from a 'getting to know you' questionnaire.

Who is your hero?
This guy.
If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
I'm fine where I am.
What is your biggest fear?
Fear itself.
What would you change about yourself if you could?
I'd like my metabolism from twenty years ago back.
What really makes you angry?
Willful ignorance.
What is your favorite book to read?
The Long Goodbye, by Raymond Chandler.
What was the last movie you went to? What did you think?
Knives Out. I enjoyed it.
What did you want to be when you were small?
Second baseman for the Cardinals.
Would you rather ride a bike, ride a horse, or drive a car?
Tough call. All of those conveyances put me in the hospital at some point. I'll say bike.
What would you sing at Karaoke night?
Brother, let me tell you what you can do with your Karaoke ...
Which would you rather do: wash dishes, mow the lawn, clean the bathroom, or vacuum the house?
Vacuum the house.
If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
One that wouldn't lead to a premature death from malnutrition.
Have you ever had a nickname? What is it?
For a while in grade school it was Moose.
Would you rather vacation in Hawaii or Alaska, and why?
Hawai'i, don't care for the cold.
Would you rather win the lottery or work at the perfect job? And why?
Lottery. Are you nuts?
Who would you want to be stranded with on a deserted island?
The world's premier raft builder.
If you were a super-hero, what powers would you have?
Accelerated healing.
If you could share a meal with any 4 individuals, living or dead, who would they be?

Hah! We just need to convince @RonCo to step down to the UMEBA.
