Applying for: New Applicant
Reason for applying:
First/Last Name: John MombergI've been goofing around with OOTP on and off for almost twenty years, and since I retired a few years ago, I've had more time to devote to it. I enjoy writing stuff for my leagues, and I take the commitment of joining a league seriously- I may not be the smartest, but I will be in there plugging away. I may need a certain amount of guidance as I learn the ropes, but I'll try to be cognizant of the thin line between asking for help and being a pest.
A few examples of my writing style still exist in the forums; you can read them here: https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/sho ... p?t=103328 or here, from a Diamond Mind historical league I'm in http://secondchancebaseball.royalwebhos ... aries.html
I hope those links work; I'm not sure how to embed them properly in this application form...
City/State/Country: Peoria, IL
Email Address: jtmomberg1@gmail.com
OOTP Forums Username: chicoruiz
Desired Forum Username: "chicoruiz" will do fine...
Date of Birth (MM/DD/YY) for in-game purposes: 02/06/1954
Occupation: Retired TV director
Other OOTP Leagues (with links): NPBL https://www.npblbaseball.com/forum/index.php, and RDBL https://statsplus.net/rdbl/ (I would be resigning from the RDBL if I got into the BBA universe)
Have you read the BBA Constitution and agree to abide by its rules?: Yes
Do you own the current version of OOTP, and plan to buy all future versions?: Yes
Do you understand the Participation Point System, and agree to be a regular contributor to our community?: Yes
What interests you about the BBA?: I appreciate that it's an established, well-run league that seems to be dedicated to creating a fun experience. I also like a writer-friendly league.
Describe your GM style: Branch Rickey-ish build from within. I will trade, but deep down inside I consider having to trade an admission of failure in player development.
Have you ever answered to the alias "Al Hoot"? (a little BBA inside joke!): Not to my knowledge...
Tell us more about yourself: As I said, I'm a retired TV guy; mostly directed newscasts, but also produced and technical directed (I did get to TD a few major league baseball games years ago). Now retired, my work consists mainly of chasing grandkids around. I'm a lifelong Cincinnati Reds fan... When I was growing up, we had a 2' by 3' poster of Tony Perez in the dining room. My mother put it there.
How did you hear about the BBA?: OOTP board
