Application from Bob Cooper - New Applicant

Post by Anonymous » Sat Nov 17, 2018 10:44 am

A user, Bob Cooper, has applied with the following information using the application form.
Real name: Bob Cooper
IP: 47.200.110.9
Email: bob.cooper@sykes.com
Applying for: New Applicant
Reason for applying:
I play OOTP full time these days now that I'm retired. I have plenty of time to devote to a league at this point. I've played every version of OOTP since before it was called OOTP. I've always been primarily a solo player, but now that I have the time I decided to join some online leagues. Basically I would be a dedicated, involved GM because I have the desire and the time. I also like to do write-ups, which i even do in my solo leagues.
First/Last Name: Bob Cooper
City/State/Country: Tampa, FL
Email Address: bob.cooper@sykes.com
Desired Forum Username: DevilRay
Date of Birth (MM/DD/YY) for in-game purposes: 2/3/73
Occupation: Systems Administrator
Other OOTP Leagues (with links): Out of Options Baseball League - https://statsplus.net/ooobl/reports/new ... _home.html - Champion Leagues United Baseball - https://statsplus.net/theclub/
Have you read the BBA Constitution and agree to abide by its rules?: Yes
Do you own the current version of OOTP, and plan to buy all future versions?: Yes
Do you understand the Participation Point System, and agree to be a regular contributor to our community?: Yes
What interests you about the BBA?: Obviously it's a long standing stable league. I'm retired now and have the time to fully immerse myself in online leagues and the appeal of your league is the focus on immersiveness.
Describe your GM style: I like to micromanage, set stategies for individual players, big on platooning, will always listen to trade talk.
Have you ever answered to the alias "Al Hoot"? (a little BBA inside joke!): Not that I recall
Tell us more about yourself: Just a pure fan of baseball, my father took me to my first MLB game in 1962, in Connie Mack stadium, saw Casey Stengel and Gene Mauch manage that day. I saw Sandy Koufax pitch in Spring Training in Orlando. I've seen Hank Aaron and Willie Mays play in person in Atlanta. Saw the Big Red Machine in the 70's. Been to most of the ballparks east of the Mississippi, including the old Yankee stadium and old Comiskey Park, Wrigley field before the lights. Also, I own one of the original 88 copies of Bill James first baseball book that he published himself and ran out of paper after 88 copies. Of course he went on to write his Baseball
How did you hear about the BBA?: OOTP forums

Welcome aboard, Bob! I loved all those old/early Bill James books. Sounds like you'll fit right in. When it comes to immersion, the BBA is about as deep as you want to make it. :)

Thanks guys. Really excited about this league. I'm ready to be immersed. I'm listening to the latest podcast now. Podcasts about OOTP as it relates to the league, unbelievable. Really impressive.

welcome bob, glad to have you. If you enjoy pods, that is a good thing because we have a WIDE variety of them available in this league ranging from the organized and professional to the drunken rambling chaos.

Great. I'm enjoying listening to them while I'm playing. Any idea what team I'm taking over? I haven't heard anything other than the initial invite from Matt this afternoon. Just curious. It doesn't matter as long as I'm in the league.

As we're just wrapping up the 2036 season more will be revealed shortly.
