New Applicant: Brett Golden
First Name: Brett
Last Name: Golden
City: South Riding
State: VA
Country: US
Email: brettgolden@verizon.net
Desired Username: GoldenOne
Date of Birth (MM/DD/YY) for in-game purposes: 11/15/71
Occupation: Foreign Affairs Officer
Other OOTP Leagues (with links): None
I have read the BBA Constitution and agree to abide by its rules.: checked
I own the current version of OOTP, and plan to buy all future versions.: checked
I understand the Participation Point system, and agree to be a contributor on a regular basis to our community.: checked
What interests you about the Brewster Baseball Association?: I love baseball. I love fantasy baseball. I love dynasty GM-level simulation baseball. I've played different types of simulation baseball games for years but have never been able to find a league that either got into the depth of a baseball team's "system" and/or had the dedication of the people involved to stay involved. I first learned of the BBA from the Havana Sugar Kings GM about a year ago and have had many a long conversations with him about trades he was thinking about, players he wanted to draft, different stats that we like to use to set lineups and rotations, etc. What really got me hooked and interested in joining was the extra attention that needs to be focused on the other aspects of being a GM - managing minor league players, the Fall League, stadium construction and maintenance, ticket prices, etc. On top of all of that, once I found out how dedicated and "into it" all of the GMs are, I've been waiting for a GM roll to open up and hoping I might be able to get in. Looking forward to showing everyone (or at least the Havana Sugar Kings) how its done!
Do you have any weird OOTP or GM quirks- like you don't believe in making trades, for example?: None. In fact, I embrace thinking outside of the box and using all the tools available.
Have you ever answered to the alias "Al Hoot"? (Don't worry, this is just an inside thing that amuses us.): No, but I will answer to anything for the right "reward."
Tell us more about yourself!: I grew up in Upstate NY, equidistant from NYC, Boston, and Montreal, so there was always a baseball game on TV to watch. For the first 7 years of my life, not knowing the world like I do now, I was a Yankees fan. Then my favorite player, Thurman Munson. died and I decided that having been born in Kansas City, #5 being my favorite number, me playing 3rd base in little league, and my name being Brett....I had to become a Royals and George Brett fan. While that fandom continues to this day, living near DC and being a Nats STH for the first 10 years, my main allegiance is now with the Nats.
Anyway.....after college I became an officer in the Marine Corps. In the 5 years I was in, I managed to deploy twice to northern Italy. (I'm still drinking wine I bought there almost 20 years ago. Hint - not all wine ages well.)
Following the Marines Corps, I managed to work as a civilian employee in the international affairs arena for the Coast Guard, State Department, and for the last 9 years, the Department of the Navy. I've visited over 50 countries and there is still no place better than the god old U.S. of A.
Did I mention I love baseball? Did I mention my 15 year old daughter turns the games on when I forget and often tells me about moves the Nats make before I find out myself. Her twin sister loves the game as well but her focus is more on the field (softball field but good enough for me.) And to round out the family - the wife never complains when we turn the game on during dinner time!
Is that enough? You know you want me.....let's do this!

From your end of the state you’ll need to drive 3 hours PASSED VT to get to where I am. I’m down in the KY, TN, NC border.GoldenOne wrote:It may take me a few days, but I wont be easy (that's what she said.)
