LV and LBC both kind of limping down the stretch. We were 4-5 in the last 10 days.
Davis Gordon though in his first major league start- WOW.

Excitement till the end (and then some) for the FL Midwest! Wowsers!! Congrats to all playoff teams, there were a few battles until the end. The Suns only bright spot was Dodson earned the batting title. Nice accolades for the kid.

Hmmm,.. going 0-4 into the playoffs isn't really what I was hoping for.

Des Moines in a one-game playoff after finishing tied with New Orleans, who, sadly, lost at the last moment.

Madison again.
Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.

Well, the rotation is ready, but there are some guys not hitting.
Time for them to step up.

I wasn't disappointed so much about ATC going 0-4 as I rested half my poor rotation and left van der Heyden out of the closer's role but I'm mad about OOTP deciding that Crocker didn't need the rest and pitching him two days running out of the 'pen when he wasn't even listed therenverhoev wrote:Hmmm,.. going 0-4 into the playoffs isn't really what I was hoping for.
I might as well have let him go for his 20th win

Two ways to ensure that doesn't happen:Bobby_Manc wrote:I wasn't disappointed so much about ATC going 0-4 as I rested half my poor rotation and left van der Heyden out of the closer's role but I'm mad about OOTP deciding that Crocker didn't need the rest and pitching him two days running out of the 'pen when he wasn't even listed therenverhoev wrote:Hmmm,.. going 0-4 into the playoffs isn't really what I was hoping for.

1) set a 6-man rotation, strict order, with the two pitchers you don't want used as the fifth and sixth in line.
2) more better, use the game strategy setting to rest a player for the next "x" days
AI will use pitchers in relief even when not listed. It think it knows better than you.

Made a little run at the end, but still finished two behind Madison. The Wolves keep their incredible run going. Maybe next year.

I hear you. Part of me wants to be the team that ends it. That, and Phoenix hasn't been in the playoffs since the mid '80's. Keeps me motivated.Greeney03 wrote:Oh Madison.... They are too good. And the season comes to a merciful end. Now the offseason to prepare for the draft. On a good note, a couple of my September call ups preformed quite well. There is hope for the future

sipping even a little bit of the water in Marquette will do that to a guy. Check out Maxwell Johnson and Jesus Silva when you get a chance;)

It must be weird for them to go to a new place and be surrounded with competent ball players. Hopefully the culture shock wears off quick.trmmilwwi wrote:sipping even a little bit of the water in Marquette will do that to a guy. Check out Maxwell Johnson and Jesus Silva when you get a chance;)

Re: 2008, Sim #19 Chatter
I honestly though this was the year it ended. I was fortunate enough to get some great seasons out of Jason Wortman, Juan Longoria, and Ricky Wells. Everyone complains about the lack of big name free agents but there are inexpensive guys to be had that can help. Look at what those three did for me this year:Greeney03 wrote: Keep it up! You were right up there with Madison.
Wortman: .335/.391/.481 with 12 homeruns at 59 RBI. He recorded 549 at-bats and produced a 46.9 VORP and 4.7 WAR. Cost me $1.6 million.
Longoria: .314/.349/.521 with 7 homeruns and 24 RBI. He recorded 140 at-bats and produced a 9.5 VORP and 1.0 WAR. Cost me $1.52 million. How many teams got a 5.7 WAR and 56.4 VORP from there DH spot at a cost of $3.1 combined?
Wells: .291/.326/.416 with 16 homeruns and 87 RBI. Recorded 615 at-bats and produced a 16.9 VORP and .8 WAR. Cost me $2.1 million at 3B.
So in total, these 3 FAs cost me a total of just over $5.2 million, recorded over 1,200 of my team at-bats, and produced a cobined 6.5 WAR. I'll take that! I feel that with my injuries and turn over this season, this may have been my best managerial work during this run. Throw in losing one of my starters in spring training and going to a 4 man rotation and those moves saved the streak... FOR THIS YEAR anyway.
