I notice that this version of OOTP has a lot of guys who have gold stars over the level of their blue stars...is this a conversion issue, or are these guys that we should watch to overproduce versus their talent, until things fall back in line?

I wonder how long it takes for someone to 'regress'? This makes valuation pretty hard, especially since everyone will get chubs for blue stars, not gold stars. I really wish stars would go away, to be honest. Even the OVR scale sucks. Markus needs a fresh start on a player evaluation technique.

Indeed. They are frankly not very useful.

Many times this seems to occur when a player in putting up significantly better stats than his ratings indicate he might. It's largely because the default settings for stars draw so much from stats... if they drew mostly from ratings you tend to see this less.
