Anyone encountered this before?

Maybe this was new in v12? I'm not a lifelong vet, but have never run into this before. I have two catchers, one I drafted and another drafted by London, that are 18 & 19 years old:

C Raymond Vial

C Carlos Cabral

Unfortunately, both of them having defensive ratings at the pitcher position. This is just an annoyance in the cases where I'm exporting pitcher stats and these two goobs are included. In the case of Cabral, though, he's got the potential to develop into a decent catcher, but every time he shows up on my dev report it's for a pitching stat/rating. That's just wasted development. Again, this is the first time I've ever encountered this in OOTP. Any advice? I don't think there is a way to force catcher development (I can obviously force him to just play catcher, that's different) and I can't strip away his pitcher rating.
