Re: What would you do as the "MBWBA Branding Director"?
So 3 Teams in Canada
2 in Wisconsin
2 in the Carolina's...
None in Florida
None in Texas
If I were calling the shots, I'd move a team out of Canada (Calgary) and one of the Carolina teams and put one in Texas and one in the GA, upper Florida region. Maybe even have another team in the Wester portion of the MW in the Colorado/Kansas area. Maybe a Wisconsin team could shift. Obviously I'm not saying any of this should or would happen, but it may balance out the map and hit more of an empty fan base.

Re: What would you do as the "MBWBA Branding Director"?
I made the same mistake initially. The only reason I caught myself is because my alma mater used to share a conference with Marquette and we had an older - legendary, actually...Alabama Sports Hall of Fame and National Sports Broadcaster's HoF - play-by-play guy. Of course, conference season in college basketball is January thru the first week of March. This guy would get pissed off about going to Marquette a full week before the game and he would start cussing and moaning to the group of us that sat behind him during commercial breaks, before/after the games, at coach's shows...anytime he had an audience.7teen wrote:Was thinking Marquette was in Wisconsin.....LambeauLeap wrote:Two teams in Wisconsin? He had a point...it seemed like every year there would be some kind of problem getting in and out of there.

Not only 2 in the Carolina's, but Greenville, SC is actually counted as part of the Charlotte MSA.7teen wrote:So 3 Teams in Canada

Re: What would you do as the "MBWBA Branding Director"?
I think having teams in "lesser" cities has always been one of the hallmarks of the NACBA, GBC, MBBA world. In fact, it has always seemed odd to me to have a team in Chicago. I personally like having smaller cities represented by our version of the major leagues.

I think that Greenville would be a good candidate to move.

If I recall, the GBC had a rule that you could NOT station your team in an MLB city.

Re: What would you do as the "MBWBA Branding Director"?
We did. It was that way in the MBBA too, we made an exception for a couple teams (one being the Black Sox).

Re: What would you do as the "MBWBA Branding Director"?
Still, a couple of teams in Texas, such as San Antonio, Amarillo, that sort of thing, would be cool. Florida could use an Orlando or Jacksonville.
Largest cities in the US without MBBA or MLB teams:
San Antonio
San Jose (Unless you consider that San Francisco)
Jacksonville
Indianapolis
Austin
Columbus
Charlotte
El Paso
Memphis
Nashville

Re: What would you do as the "MBWBA Branding Director"?
Well, here's a simple one. Baltimore Monarchs were originally the Jacksonville Monarchs, and really still should be. Can't remember how that one ever got approved.
San Antonio should really have a team. As should Indianapolis and Nashville.
We should expand.

I was the Orlando Suns at one point when we tried to geographically realign in one of the old leagues. Also in Sacramento.
