I like Lazer 1st overall. Not the best player in the draft, but fits a need.

It's kinda fun to be on the top end of the draft for once. I'm doing my normal over-thinking.

Re: 2057, BBA Ammy Draft Chatter
Cochrane could be the best overall player in the draft.
McNeill and Lazer are an interesting pair at a position of scarcity. Same with Cramer at CF, really. His defense might be a shade borderline, but he looks like a real switch hitter, which helps.
There are a couple guy on the list who could step in and plan in the BBA right now, I think.
No idea what to think about Gaajlimitz. He's kinda like Hugh Mangrouthormone in reverse. I'm going to guess he'll have a great, but frustrating career as a true DH someplace. (cough, cough, Phoenix). I like Trujillo. I like Amberman. I like Norman. I like several of the pitchers, but I think they'll fall a little bit. Lots of interesting players in round 1.
I'm actually more intrigued with what the second round pool will look like.

You and me both, which is why I set a list so the game picks my top person available that I opted for and I don't keep tinkering!

I would have almost certainly have taken Lazer at #1. In the land of the stone hands, the gloved one is King at SS, IMO.RonCo wrote: ↑Mon Nov 27, 2023 2:37 pmCochrane could be the best overall player in the draft.

Probably more than a few are BBA-ready, but I wouldn't do that personally as I'm adverse to risking prospect development. I'm agonizing on a few of my players and jumping them earlier than the usual 1-year per level guide I live by.
Mr. G is going to be wild to watch. I think he has a better shot at a long-term career than Hugh did. Trujillo got picked, so I can feel comfortable saying I passed because of his weak arm. He'll hit, but not sure he can hang on as a 2B. I hope Ben proves my fears wrong!
Totally agree on "interesting players" - as I think I told you, there's a lot of "potentially great, but if X happens, not so great" players which means luck and development will matter a lot. And that's a good thing! I like the idea of a deeper, more flawed draft than 10 no-brainers and a huge drop off.
And yes, there are some guys I think I can snag in Rounds 2-3 that others may pass on. Can't wait to find out!

Re: 2057, BBA Ammy Draft Chatter
Sorry but I'll be the guy that bogs the draft down early on. At work with no game access. Need to see what these guys are like in game. Though Gaajlimitz looks awful enticing still there at 5.

Re: 2057, BBA Ammy Draft Chatter
The first three are interesting. If you're a Chicago fan you've got to be absolutely thrilled with Cochran falling there.
Same thing with Gaajlimitz at 5. That's probably right...but man, it's going to be wild to see what the game does with a 14 contact. If nothing else, it's a fun pick. And as Vic said, the key to this game is to have fun.

Re: 2057, BBA Ammy Draft Chatter
I hate that Cochran fell to @KJChmura. Probably the best player in the draft, but I agree that Gaajlimitz might have been my pick just because the fun of it. I also doubt he gets to 14 contact or whether the difference between 10 and 14 contact is all that different. But he will be fun to watch, regardless.RonCo wrote: ↑Tue Nov 28, 2023 11:34 amThe first three are interesting. Re: 2057, BBA Ammy Draft Chatter
I was a little surprised at @lordtoffee 's selection of Trujillo at #2. Not really because Trujillo isn't worthy -- he's fine there -- but because I assumed he would go to a team that was going to field him pretty much now, and Brooklyn has both 2B and 1B covered pretty well for the near future. So there went that theory.
Looking forward to seeing Ben's write-up on that one.

Re: 2057, BBA Ammy Draft Chatter
I'll be sinking a lot of PPs into Gaajlimitz's intangibles to get him in a better frame of mind to try and reach that 14 contact. The eye and avoid K ratings have me REAL interested in what he can do.
I dare to put the pressure on it that early, but I'm hoping Aguilar's single season average record of .4127 is in jeopardy. Now, cue the lumps!!!

Were the players who netted us compensation posted somewhere? I'm not complaining about having five picks in the first two rounds, just wasn't expecting that many comp picks.
