2003 Sim #18 League Chatter

Post by scottsdale_joe » Tue Feb 07, 2012 12:12 pm

Hope spring eternal.
Swept Valencia and took the first for Cal.
2 out, 3 to play.
Cal only needs a single win in the last three games with us at Cal to clinch the division.

But Omaha went 1-3, so we lead them for the WC by two.
Two wins and we're in.
One win cliches a tie.
No wins and we most likely go home for the winter and watch the Canucks play.

Wolves clinch the division! Thank goodness too. No off-days the entire month. I had 3 guys running on fumes. Time to rest everyone for the playoffs... Hurts me not to give Wright one more shot at win #20 though.

And it's true, Cletus Bullrush, Jr. pitched a 9 innings 3 walk no-hitter over the ATC!

Not much I can really do at this point with all the injuries. If I lose 6 of my starters to injuries or waivers plus a reliever I'm pretty much done at that point. I was hustling and signing AAA pitchers so thats why I'm still afloat but theres not much I can do anymore. A lazy GM that wasn't scouring free agency for AAA pitchers would have been buried at this point.

I normally dont care about the injuries because they dont make much difference, but this year injuries have cost me at least 8 wins or so. Any team that loses their #1, #2, #3, #5, #6, and #7 starters isn't going to be anything more than a .500 team at that point.

WTF? WTF?!? WTF?!?!?!

Ok, breathing...

One game out and three straight games at home against the division leaders. First game up I'm watching Gamecast and my catcher is hitting 2nd, Sunderland comes to the plate 4th, and after a back-and-forth decision to sit Randall's bat for Stowell's defense...Randall comes up to plate starting at 2B. NO AGUILAR!!! He doesn't even pinch hit and neither does Stowell. We lose that one but win the next 2 to tie for the lead. Then a very critical game vs. Buffalo and my backup CF is starting (ok...not as good a bat but better defense) with my catcher leading off. WTF?!? The first time all year I've seen this kind of wackiness in my gameday lineup.

I'm kind of steamed now. Fatigue, maybe? I have both Stowell and Aguilar starting in the latest lineup unless they are tired. I hope that game doesn't cost me a spot.

Oh, and congrats to Vegas who is 1 up in the WC on both us and Montreal with 3 to play.

There's still 3 to play. Lots of bad things can happen in 3 games, as I learned last year.

If I do not get $5M and 2 top 10 picks from Carolina, I will call upon the ghost (I assume he is dead) of Johnny Vendermeer to send the Kraken paken...

Well its only taken two seasons but we won a series v Madison. 70 wins is a good season in Chicago and quite an improvement.

Sorry Ben, I had to choose between resting my starters, and attempting to knock LV out of the playoffs! Had to get my guys some rest heading into the playoffs, and I was attempting to setup my rotation for the first round.

Oh, that's cool. I'm fully aware that whatever got into Mijangos' and Stephan's Wheaties has run out...just as I'm aware that whatever voodoo was placed on Montreal seems to be wearing off as guys are getting healthy (well, at least the offense). I figured at the all-star break that the 2nd place team in the Pacific would be the WC winner. So I'm prepared to miss the playoffs, but I'd rather not miss them while my manager sits Aguilar for an entire game against the division leaders and hits my freaking catcher leadoff down the stretch...

I want to say it is a playoff game just like real life. I know that is how OOTP handled it in another Recte league I was in...

3-1 including a 3 game sweep of Omaha in Omaha. Really liking what I'm seeing in the second half. A few teaks in the offseason and.............?
