Ashford is getting HOSED here btw. Consider this amazing stat:
1. He led the league in hits
2. He had...100 EXTRA BASE HITS.
3. Donastevez, the leader for the Silk, had just 77 extra base hits.

Is your argument that counting stats are undervalued? In my own voting, I tend to look at rate statistics, using counting stats as a tie-breaker in close cases.

I always like it when we take WAR off the ballot. Makes people examine stats more. WAR becomes the lazy way to vote. Sort by WAR. Vote top 5. Move on

Donestevez was also a VASTLY superior defender (ashford isnt a slouch by any means, but donestevez is elite), and despite the EBH argument Donestevez still lapped Ashford in both OPS and WRC+.

FWIW my ballot was as follows, with Ashford just barely missing out to Cano due to defense (although the 4-6 spots were brutally close).

Donestevez
Rivera
Roman
Rudge
Cano Jr.

I might be confused on what the Silk award is supposed to be. Because it has the word 'slugger' in the name, I considered it to be an award for the best hitter, rather than best position player. I've never looked at WAR, base running, or defensive metrics when filling out the Silk ballot. If the Silk is supposed to be more akin to an MVP award, I should change my approach.

Silk is MVP, Puckett is the silver slugger.

Well, most valuable position player, anyway. Wullenwebber was the most valuable player in the Frick last season.
