Arm slot...

Post by cheekimonk » Mon Dec 20, 2021 10:49 am

This affects pitchers how in OOTP? It absolutely matters in real life, but is there a hidden metric that says batter Joe Schmo hits "3/4th angle" better than "over the top"?

I believe it merely impacts split ratings with the more extreme angle of the arm influencing same side hitters to a higher degree and creating a negative split against opposite hand hitters (submarine -> sidearm -> 3/4 -> over the top).

If only there were better ways within OOTP to manage a bullpen, specifically being able to choose what reliever faces which batter during certain times of the game.

Life is a bit more beautiful when time is measured by the half inning rather than the half hour.

Some thread necromancy because this has been on my mind today too.

Curious what y'all observe (or simply think to be the case.) Do you find that pitchers with extreme angle arm slots are more likely to have a larger split between their ratings for vL and vR, or do they perform differently (bigger splits) than pitchers who have the same ratings but less extreme slots?
